Job Description
Location:South Elgin, IL
Duration: Permanent Hire
Travel: 25%
Objective:
Assemble, debug and install entire machines and/or systems in a timely manner and meet customer requirements. Mentor new and/or existing builders
Responsibilities:
Organize, plan and execute all phases of machine construction.
Ability to power up and debug from start to finish without assistance of others.
Assemble all aspects of a machine or multi-system from drawings and/or verbal instructions.
Provide direction to assistants.
Fabricate critical machine components as required.
Interface with electrical personnel concerning electrical and programming issues.
Use knowledge of pneumatic functions, devices and fittings, to achieve desired results.
Adjust cam timing, rotary positions (i.e. indexing units) as necessary.
Use knowledge of OSHA requirements for machine safety devices and guards.
Perform machine parts and assembly modifications as required, interfacing with engineering when changes are major or of a critical nature.
Record changes to machine parts and assemblies on engineering drawings following our current Red line process.
Debug entire machine, with engineering, as necessary.
Perform in-house acceptance run-off.
Interface with customer when necessary.
Install and service machines at customer's site as required.
Train customer's personnel on machine operations and maintenance.
Provide information for machine technical documentation.
Provide Management daily report (verbal or written) on project status.
Attend engineering reviews.
Maintain a safe working environment and follow safe working practices.
Keep work area clean.
Maintain tools and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.
Follow work instructions and maintain checklists.
Maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
Recommend improvements in order to facilitate company growth.
Maintain ISO13485 Certification Requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalency.
Experience:
• Ten years minimum experience in machine building.
• Journeyman toolmaker or equivalent skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Good interpersonal skills.
Equipment:
Must be knowledgeable in the proper use and selection of tools and equipment.
Examples:
Inspection and measurement tools such as vernier, caliper, and scales, etc.
Hand tools such as a variety of wrenches, pliers, saws, power drills, etc.
Machinery such as milling machine, surface grinders, lathe, etc.
Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
PLC Knowledge
Physical Demands:
• The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
• Exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 25 pounds of force frequently.
• Visual Acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
• Hearing Ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
• Working Conditions – The employee is subject to exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when working on the manufacturing floor.
