Ultra Maritime US is seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to support development engineering, engineering testing, and production support activities. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and a strong aptitude for problem solving. Responsibilities include a broad range of tasking, but are not limited to; building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical components and systems; performing failure analyses on products and processes; producing detailed reports; and developing test and assembly fixtures. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have the desire to learn and grow in their job.
Nationality Requirements
Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.
Job Description
Required Skills:
  • 2-year degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related technical field with 4+ years of experience; OR 7+ years of experience without a degree.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government secret security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
  • Experience in fabrication, testing, welding, and/or machining.
  • Good understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willing and able to support test activities located at various US Navy locations (up to 10% overnight travel).

Desired Skills:
  • A demonstrated aptitude in mechanical and environmental test methods.
  • Experience supporting production of electro-mechanical devices.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with physical inspection and measurement equipment (micrometer, Instron tensile tester, digital microscope, optical inspection equipment).
  • Experience with 3-D printing.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasional lifting of 40 pounds, waist high, with no assistance. Performing these activities on the deck of a research vessel will be required.
  • This position requires work in customer environments that may require the use of personal protective equipment.
