In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the technical manufacturing process of the Company’s electromechanical products. Responsibilities will include developing processes to meet production demands and ensuring that quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met. Key to this role is designing and developing product improvements, troubleshooting production issues, implementing corrective action, and optimizing processes through continuous improvement programs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop, validate, and maintain assembly production lines for electro-mechanical products.
- Implement production processes for new and existing products.
- Identify and lead implementation of new and enhanced assembly capabilities.
- Develop process ideas to reduce costs and improve production rates.
- Design and develop fixtures and tooling, including selection and coordination with suppliers.
- Research the purchase of equipment and/or upgrades to existing equipment.
- Supervise operator training.
- Generate and update work instructions for production processes.
- Ensure processes comply with safety and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve customer quality issues related to manufacturing process issues.
- Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documents for pre-production builds and for design verification, design validation, and process validation.
- Work as part of the engineering team to design and develop improvements to existing products and develop new products under DFM guidelines.
- Participate in the New Product Development process to evaluate concepts, designs, prototypes, and test equipment.
- Assist in producing engineering prototypes and evaluating potential electrical and Mechanical Engineering improvements.
- Research suppliers of custom and off-the-shelf components and manage the outsourcing of custom components.
- Support in-house 3D printing activities.
Job requirements and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
- At least 3-5 years of technical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a high mix, low volume facility, including experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems.
- Strong knowledge and experience in electro-mechanical assembly process design and operation.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent technical and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with all levels within an organization, including production managers to assess existing processes and line technicians to assist in developing and improving product design and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish root cause analysis and resolve problems on a conceptual and advanced troubleshooting level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong technical writing skills.
- Experience working with SolidWorks CAD software; PDM and PLM experience a plus.
- Excellent project and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, and be flexible in responding to changing business demands.
