Mechanical Engineer Intern
Project Name: Plant 6 Area Pulse on Demand
Project Duration: 3months
Paid Internship: The pay rate for this internship is commensurate with the candidate's years of schooling and major. The pay scale is between $15 - $26 per hour.
Requirements:
Mechanical Engineer Degree preferred
Location: Marble Hill, Georgia
PROJECT SCOPE:
Evaluate the numerous dust collectors in Plant 6 (>30 units), determine if they are good candidates for conversion to “pulse on-demand operation”, and if they are, implement the conversion while optimizing the pulse settings by programming the timing boards.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION & DELIVERABLES:
The intern will work closely with internal and external resources to learn about dust collectors, their control systems, industrial mineral processing, and compressed air systems, with the targeted goal being to implement “pulse on demand” dust collector bag cleaning on every system where it is feasible, thereby reducing compressed air consumption (and its associated energy cost), extending dust collector bag life, and generally optimizing the utilization of compressed air as it relates to dust collection.
