The Role
- Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for aerospace applications.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
- Conduct structural analysis and ensure designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into larger aerospace platforms.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on overall system architecture.
- Select appropriate materials for aerospace applications, considering factors such as weight, strength, and durability.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective production of designed components.
- Develop and execute test plans to validate the performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
- Analyze test data and make necessary design improvements based on results.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant aerospace regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Stay informed about the latest advancements in aerospace engineering and incorporate innovative technologies into designs.
The Background Profile
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering required; Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering a plus
- 1-3 years experience in the Mechanical Engineering field
- Mechanical engineering experience with general aviation/aerospace applications strongly desired
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (e.g. SolidWorks Simulation, FEATool) preferred
- In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis
- A solid track record of adhering to aerospace industry standards and regulations
- Ability to work onsite in the Greenville, SC office
