SAIC is seeking a PrincipalMechanical Engineer to join our team in North Charleston, SC. This position is 100% on site.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing new systems, supporting existing designs, supporting operations, and working across all business functions to define and deliver integrated systems.
Experience with a proven track record in mechanical technologies will be essential to develop and launch innovative products to be utilized in DoD Programs of Record.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with Leadership and Product Management to establish a solid engineering function capable of rapid product development and innovation to realize a best-in-class product to support customer requirements.
Qualifications
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree and five (5) years or more experience
- Must be proficient in 3D CAD software, SolidWorks experience preferred
- Must be proficient in 2D CAD software, Auto Desk AutoCAD experience preferred
- Must have experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
- Must have DoD drawing experience
- Ability to communicate task requirement information to client and management in a clear and concise manner
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate rapidly and effectively within the organization and to represent the company in a professional manner
- Must be willing and able to independently pursue assignments with maximum problem-solving resolve and minimal supervision, but must also readily ask for direction and help when needed
- Ability to shift priorities as needed and work in a fast-paced environment
- Drive the design and development of innovative component and system level solutions
- Communicating and reporting of critical design details to appropriate teams
- Development, implementation, and integration of mechanical design solutions across multiple technical disciplines from concept to production within an Agile development environment
- Development scheduling, estimation BOM creation and costs of components, tooling, and general systems design
- Develop designs and processes with external vendors
- Manage and track multiple priorities, resources and schedule requirements throughout project timeline
- Prototype bring-up, debug, and characterization
- Design validation and characterization from prototyping to product testing
- Drive failure analyses to reach design solutions and corrective actions
- Drive design towards performance and operational requirements
- Documentation of mechanical design requirements, from conceptual design to critical design
- Work within the Engineering Team to drive Agile product development of new systems and sustainment of existing systems
CLEARANCE:
- Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
