Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The general purpose of the Mechanical Designer is to design extrusion profiles for manufacturability and fixture or work holding for CNC machines. In addition, Mechanical Designers will also be involved in BOM setup, ECN's or other design requests while providing support to estimating. They will interface with die vendors, customers and internal departments to complete the work assigned.
· Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
· Produce three-dimensional models, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
· Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
· Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve de- sign or other problems.
· Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands
Wear required safety equipment when on the shop floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb and balance.
The employee will occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), and Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and working near moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection required.
Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
