The Mechanic I position is a full-time, year-round position, responsible for assisting the Park District Equipment Manager (Mechanic II) with Park District and White Pines Golf Club (WPGC) equipment and vehicle maintenance/inspection/repairs.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Maintenance/inspection/repairs of golf course equipment (mowers, utility vehicles and specialized equipment).
- Maintenance/inspection/repairs of vehicles (pick-up trucks, vans and dump trucks).
- Maintaining SAFE, clean, organized and efficient shop area(s).
- Maintaining and supervising the proper operation and cleanliness of Park District and WPGC equipment and tools.
- 3-5 years of mechanical experience, advanced education or training preferred, but not required.
- Experience and knowledge of vehicle and golf course equipment maintenance/inspection/repair
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors and employees.
- Ability to read and properly interpret equipment/vehicle manuals (safety/operation/maintenance).
- Valid Driver's License.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time and occasionally safely lift 50# occasionally.

SALARY $50-56,000/year, benefit eligible (IMRF, Medical, Dental, Vision)
HOURS 40 Hours/Week, Monday-Friday (occasional overtime and weekends, if necessary)
