Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Permanent Part-Time - Oakwood
Grade: IV
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Department: Parks & Planning
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor/Full-Time Mechanical Maintenance Staff
Supervises: N/A
BASIC FUNCTION
Mechanical Maintenance staff work to complete routine maintenance tasks as assigned. This team performs light electrical repair, plumbing, preventative HVAC maintenance, pump repair and bulb changes. Staff is also responsible for seasonal snow removal and summer pool preparations. This position functions as a helper to full-time staff.
Work week will not exceed 30 hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Operation of Plow Truck & Snow Removal Equipment
- Perform general labor ex: Digging, shoveling wood chips, moving equipment, etc.
- Inspect facilities and equipment.
- Inspect, clean, maintain and perform routine maintenance on related equipment.
- Perform documented written inspections.
- Perform support services at Park District and community events.
- Act as a helper to full-time members of the Mechanical Maintenance crew on assigned trade work.
- Operates various hand tools.
- Operate district vehicles and equipment.
- Work at heights of less than 25ft.
- Operates indoor pool at Prairie Lakes Aquatic Center
OTHER DUTIES
- Assist administrative staff with special maintenance requests.
- May be required to perform overtime work as requested or required, including weekends.
- Volunteer/work at annual Fall Fest (3 day event)
- Provides polite customer service to any park users if approached.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals
- Coordinates activities to successfully collaborate with district staff performing maintenance in the same area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Education: High School Diploma preferred
Experience: 1-2 years Mechanical Maintenance Experience Preferred
Certifications: Valid Illinois Driver’s License Required
CPO certification preferred and/or acquired within 6 months of employment
