Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
- Observe and enforce compliance with all established safety rules and regulations
- Monitor Plant Intelligence Center to manage and prioritize change overs, equipment maintenance and repairs, product quality issues, cycle times and labor utilization and attend meetings as required.
- Ensure adherence to WPS Operational Excellence Manual and all associated policies and processes
- Responsible for all inventory activities for pre and post-production, including maintenance of material inventory levels, quality & inspection and JIT delivery scheduling.
- Responsible to lead the logistics and material team to achieve desired inventory levels and develop and maintain quality and efficiency standards.
- Prepare or assist in preparation of departmental budgets, monitor to ensure operations in purchasing are within budget.
- Develop and maintain practices relative to the disposal of surplus materials, ensuring that the processes are adequate, timely and provide the optimum value.
- Supervise all activities related to logistics and materials to maintain inventory. Responsible for both shipping and receiving department.
- Work with Central Purchasing regarding specific needs of incoming materials.
- Record incoming shipments and track inventory. Issue shippers for outbound materials.
- Responsible for all aspects of operations including partnering with clients and internal departments to achieve productivity, pricing, quality and safety goals.
- Analyze data and prioritize work assignments to direct the daily plan of action for the shift or functional areas.
- Manage transportation of inbound materials and outbound finished goods with a focus on expanding company?s capabilities in both areas of responsibility to support continued growth.
- Coordinate inbound freight and outbound transportation of finished goods to maximize efficiency and lower overall cost of doing business.
- Resolve issues dealing with damage claims and missing freight/finish trailers. Manage utility owned trailers used in dedicated freight lanes.
- Maintain proper records to include bill of ladings, invoices, purchase orders, etc.
- Maintain a working relationship with carriers and independent operators.
- Work directly with production and customers to manage returnable container programs.
- Organization of all warehouse and storage locations at every level of inventory stock.
- Organize and Lead Physical Inventory events in coordination with Plant Controller
- Promote employee training objectives and ensure compliance with all WilbertU training requirements
- Identify high potential employees and actively develop team members to build bench strength and plan for succession
- Manage resources to meet or exceed established targets for days of inventory, premium freight and sales backorder amounts.
Leadership responsibilities

- Ensure that all shift personnel?s work hours, attendance and vacation are accurately managed and recorded
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience - business, logistics or related field
- Five years? materials management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems required, IQMS system preferred
Preferred Skills
- Scheduling/planning principles and concepts
- Demonstrate skills in using MRP/ERP system
- Demonstrate skills in using data to analyze root causes to resolve problems.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint).
- Experience in Inventory Control Management.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to function with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a process improvement approach.
- Willingness to change and lead others through change.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to develop a collaborative team.
