Job Overview:
Assist the manager in planning and organizing MBV's activities relating to the availability of NAFTA sourced parts & import parts from Europe. Coordinate demands amongst production, purchasing, and suppliers. Support the integration of new IT systems for Material Planning.
Responsibilities:
- Support the introduction of local and international suppliers in preparation for the launch of the new Sprinter model
- Develop relationships with assigned NAFTA suppliers. Plan, track and control the procedures and work tasks in order to procure production parts
- Develop and implement objectives with assigned suppliers regarding parts supply, and ensure that these objectives are kept. Formulate and implement a supply chain strategy with assigned suppliers, including coordination of delivery dates and quantities, and countermeasure plans in case of unforeseeable events
- Fulfill all requirements as primary respondent to production / quality inquiries for assigned suppliers regarding supplier issue and production parts availability
- Providing and directing alternate plans for abnormal conditions, including, but not limited to, work stoppages at a supplier, material shortages, rejections, new priorities, etc.
- Maintain a high degree of integrity and fairness in transactions with assigned suppliers / logistics service providers and regularly monitors that activity to ensure its consistency
- Will perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or in a related Engineering field required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of Supply Chain Management and/ or Supplier Quality.
- Specific areas of interest are logistics, procurement, order management, supplier development, and supplier quality.
- Distinct knowledge of Parts Supplier processes and issues. Knowledge of the product and parts.
- Ability to travel by air and/or car on short notice within the US and abroad, including weekends.
- Ability to work during scheduled work hours, as well as overtime, including weekends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Highly motivated self-starter; Team oriented; outstanding planning and proactive skills.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC ("MBV") is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today the MBV facility provides more than 1,600 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. More than 200,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S. since 2006. Therefore, MBV celebrates a 15-year legacy of SKD production in 2021. The U.S. is the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
