JOB SUMMARY:
The Material Handler 3 (MH3) provides advanced material handling support to Distribution Center operations through safe and accurate receiving, stocking, and order selecting and shipping. The MH3 will also be required to perform Material Handler 1 and Material Handler 2 job duties and be able to lead and train MH1 and MH2 positions. This position reports to the Warehouse Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide advanced material handling support by:
- Receipt and inspection of ordered material, ensuring material is free from damage, comparing items with freight bills and purchase orders for accurate receipt, forwarding pertinent materials to the appropriate office.
- Stock received material in designated location, ensuring material is free from damage and stored safely.
- Replenish selected material as requested and directed by Warehouse Manager.
- Select store ordered materials, ensuring material is free from damage, accurately selected according to store requisition, communicating any identified damages/variance to the appropriate office.
- Load selected material for shipment to stores; ensuring merchandise is free from damage, accurately placed on assigned trailer according to load plan, communicating any damages, variance, or possible weight/cube limitation concerns with Warehouse Manager.
- Accurately complete, log and transmit all receipts, pallet moves, selected orders and loading requirements as directed using a hand-held PDA.
- Complete daily productivity logs.
- Providing training, direction and support to MH1 and MH2 positions.
- Provide additional material handling support in MH1 and MH2 capacities by:
- Conveyance of material to and from storage or work site to designated location.
- Load/unload material
- Sorting of donated goods.
- Accurately complete, log and transmit all assigned work as directed.
- Separate and palletize Covered Electronics as necessary.
- Operation of assigned Material Handling Equipment
- Performs equipment and vehicle inspection as required by OSHA prior to using equipment, ensuring equipment is safe to operate, and deficiencies are communicated to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
- Observe direction of travel, pedestrian right of way, and intersection/corner etiquette by maintaining proper speed and awareness
- Maintain positive and safe control of equipment at all times.
- Handling materials according to trained safety specifications, preventing material damage.
Regular attendance is required in order to meet the essential job functions.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
Performs all other duties as may be assigned.
Act as back-up supervisory support in the absence of the DC Lead.
Perform the duties of Bobtail Driver as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education Required: Elementary education. Forklift certification is highly desirable, but not required.
Experience Required: Three years of material handling experience, with at least one in an electronic environment, and material handling equipment operation utilizing a forklift.

Equipment Used: Time recorder, computer, POS and warehouse management systems, electric pallet jack, forklift, pre-crusher/compactor, baler, dock levelers, appliance trucks, hand trucks, PDA, load locks and standard truck.

LICENSES/INSURANCE/TRANSPORTATION
Must be able to pass Goodwill Industries’ forklift operator examination. Must possess a valid California Class C Operator’s license and a current DMV printout. (maximum 3 points)
JOB SETTING
Semi-severe environmental conditions ranging from 25 to 115 degrees. Warehouse setting: Must wear leather shoes that cover the ankle.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to ambulate, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs., have good hand/eye coordination, and good dexterity in upper extremities and upper torso.
