The Role:
Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and our very first autonomous vehicle, Cruise Origin will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these outstanding products! The Material Control Lead will lead the material office staff (GM and Ryder) on 2nd Shift. This person will manage the material flow process through banks, buffers, and visual inventory controls, ensure correct inventories for component/stamping/assembly material, support BPD/Scorecard achievement, manages annual physical inventory and internal controls compliance for their functions. May need to be flexible for rotating shifts and/or overtime as needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Supervise, train, and develop salaried people
- Administer safety, vacation and attendance policy
- Resolves numerous issues dealing with suppliers, supplier contracts or buyer related problems
- Follow-up on problem solving initiatives related to stock discrepancies
- Interfaces with Central Office allocation on part issues as required
- Implements, monitors and maintains GMS elements
- Reviews old and processes new freight claims and elevates to GM Logistics when required
- Investigates supplier claims of unpaid bills
- Investigates duplicate receipts
- Responsible for the coordination of Material systems, modules and ensuring material on time and with the best cost analysis to keep production running
- Performs a daily audit of record adjustments including MR/DR reviews
- Responsible for stock / record balance accuracy
- Develop and implement cost savings projects
- Ensure total cost perspective is utilized
- Manages Premium Freight Forecast and reduction initiatives
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum 3 years’ Supply Chain experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to work with others and lead/mentor them effectively
- Demonstrates ability to work autonomously with little to no direction
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge:
- Automotive Manufacturing Experience preferred
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, plant floor material flow processes and MGO – Material Global Optimization.
- Leadership experience preferred
