About the Role: We are looking for a Market Development professional to join our team with a focus on Defense Systems for North America. In this role, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to capture Gore product content on significant defense programs. As a key member of our Aerospace & Defense market facing team, you will collaborate with a diverse and dynamic group of associates. Your contributions will directly impact our vision to transform system performance driven by megatrends in electrification. Your primary focus will be engaging targeted end users, influencers, and teaming partners to develop and implement capture plans intended to influence requirements and increase Gore’s probability of business success.
This position offers multiple work arrangements: on-site at our facility in Newark, Delaware, hybrid or fully remote work allowedin most locations within the United States, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop strategy, capture plans, and lead the execution in pursuit of multiple large, complex program opportunities within U.S. Defense Agencies
- Engage with Gore A&D leadership to develop and refine overall strategy for future growth: this includes leading strategy sessions for particular customer communities (Army, Navy, NATO) to ensure that Gore is aligned to end user, acquisition, and B2B influencers
- Influence requirements based on end user, system, and Gore insights by synchronizing and driving impactful responses to government solicitations
- Support strategic account leadership with strategy development and execution
- Engage with Gore A&D Regional Sales Leader and Sales Associates to support opportunities that have transitioned from Market Development Captures to discrete, high probability opportunities in Sales Force
- Engage with customer R&D networks in DoD (DARPA, ONR, AFRL, ARL) and industry (Innovation Cells, Centers of Excellence, etc)
- Bring the voice of the customer to Gore’s A&D technical team to drive a new product pipeline that will align Gore’s product development with customer roadmaps over the next 10 years
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 10 years experience with Business-to-Government or Government-to-Government Sales or Opportunity Development
- Large customer network across DoD and Industry
- Proven ability to assess complex and/or emerging markets and to identify and qualify credible demand opportunities
- Proven ability to define, develop, and manage cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships to deliver measurable results on Market Development
- Proven ability to influence, manage performance, and resolve conflicts without authority and across functional and organizational lines
- Ability to influence and engage both internally and externally at the senior leader level (VP, Director, Flag Officer, PEO, PMA, Chief Engineer)
- Ability to gain DoD Clearance
- Ability to travel 40%
Desired Qualifications:
- 10 years active duty, reserve or National Guard experience
- Minimum 5 years experience with program management and/or business capture
- Capture and Proposal Writing Training and Experience (Shipley, University of Chicago)
