SUMMARY:
Operate machine to company standards and communicate job functions to line workers. Perform changeovers to machine when new product/size is being run. Function as back-up to production supervisor, including ensuring efficient production and compliance with all company quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies and procedures, when necessary. As needed, ensure all daily manufacturing documents are completed and accurate, including Redzone data and escalates quality/GMP compliance issues or concerns. Monitor production floor with periodic safety and quality checks. Oversee product change overs and perform swabbing. Monitor product safety and quality through periodic HACCP checks and visual and sensory inspections of products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review production schedule and discuss upcoming jobs with team, delegate tasks to members of the team based on ability and training.
- Ensure lines are operating within the controls established (ie Startup and Setup, PCS, and Process Owner Inspections and Validations).
- Maintain and ensure all standards, GMP, SSOP, standard operating procedures (SOPs) lines are set up and running to effective standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support employee and food safety, product quality, asset effectiveness, and workplace organization.
- Complete employee qualification and/or training assessments.
- Verify all procedures are being followed
- Assist in cross training team members
- Troubleshoot resultant problems, drive improvements to Controls established, SOPs and training manuals, and coach employees on the resolutions.
- Ensure employee behaviors are always conducive to achieving excellent results through ownership and empowerment (i.e. loss elimination, utilizing opportunity log, etc.)
- Provide support for production personnel to achieve their specific goals and objectives via continuous process improvement and alignment with the company’s values.
- Report to supervisor actions taken, results achieved and concerns / issues not resolved.
- Redzone:
- Monitor downtime and assist in increasing uptime throughout the production process. Ensure operators do not stop and step in to assist, as needed.
- Effectively and efficiently set up, operate, and changeover machines.
- Ensure all daily manufacturing documents are completed and accurate.
- BOM printing and staging runs. BOM certification/entry into ERP system post runs
- Hourly checks- metal detector checks, nitrogen testing, water testing for leaks, sensory checks, other package quality checks
- Initiates and completes foreign material investigations as needed
- Cleaning verification and equipment sign off
- Allergen swabbing
- Ensure finished product meets or exceeds expectations and customer specifications
- Ensure that all food safety/quality policy and practices are being followed
- Enforce GMP policy adherence with entire team
- Report all major issues and non-conformances to management
- Pre-Operational checks
- Other projects, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s or associate degree in manufacturing or related field preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience operating industrial machines, preferably food packaging/processing equipment. Experience achieving production targets, directing production line accountability, and training people required.
Skills:
· Good mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
· Demonstrable training skills.
· Ability to quickly learn and comply with company safety, quality, GMP, and other required policies and procedures.
· A strong work ethic and proven leadership skills.
· A self-motivated individual that is able to direct others.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, and follow through skills.
· Strong PC skills with MS office programs.
RELATIONSHIPS:
· Reports to the Production Supervisor.
· Works closely with quality, maintenance, warehouse, sanitation, and human resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend, and use hands and fingers. This position requires the employee to be able to read, write, and communicate orally in English. In addition, the employee must be able to hear and have color vision.

Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
