We currently have an opening for a Manufacturing Manager at our Burleson, TX location.
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Manager manages, plans, and directs daily manufacturing operations to ensure the production and delivery of products consistent with customer requirements and established departmental, plant and company goals. This position will coach and mentor staff, ensure that best practice is employed relating to all aspects of plant operations, ensure quality standards are met, and lead various manufacturing and engineering efforts within the facility to drive best-in-class operational performance.
Role & Responsibilities –
- Ensure the timely delivery of products within the cost and quality specifications, through effective use of production resources and activities
- Lead the materials and production planning process to champion the best solution to support effective manufacturing operations via visual scheduling methodologies and collaborative problem solving
- Lead the tier communication process and shift crew meetings
- Ensure there is effective communication between the Production, Extrusion, Technical Services, and Engineering/Technology departments
- Provide support with focus on production machines, materials, methods, and manpower to improve performance
- Identify, create and improve KPIs critical to the performance of the manufacturing operation
- Lead efforts with Production and Engineering Technology to create a visual management workplace
- Analyze and review operating methods and procedures on a continuous basis to develop and implement improvement strategies
- Lead Kaizen events in identified areas to create step change improvements and continuous improvement activities
- Champion efforts to mistake proof manual tasks and processes throughout the facility
- Lead the Project Management Team
- Coordinate and lead multi departmental teams to plan and execute various activities and projects and ensure their successful conclusion
- Ensure effective communication, documentation and training is performed as part of the project implementation process
- Provide opportunities for staff to improve their technical and managerial skills, through training, mentoring and education
- Be available on off-shifts to troubleshoot various operational issues and facilitate their resolution
- Must be an active participant on the manufacturing floor, executing daily work activities, working with employees and leading by example. Must have strong action based work ethic
- Proactively manage priorities and activities that are in alignment with overall business objective
- Lead Manufacturing function within budgeted guidelines, to contribute to the expected financial results of the company
- Must be a “doer” and willing to do what it takes to accomplish an objective, cannot be a work generator
- Have the ability to work with and through others to achieve buy-in and achieve objectives
- Closely manage confidential information and intellectual property; must have a high degree of integrity and honesty
- Possess high standards for housekeeping, employee safety and environmental compliance
- Proactively perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements -
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Five (5) years’ experience in leading a high performing manufacturing environment; plastics and / or building materials preferred
- Be well versed in all business activities and processes
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, thrive in in a team environment
- Hands on with a “Can Do” attitude and willing to learn
- Computer literate with Word, Excel, Outlook as a minimum
- Six Sigma Green Belt required
- Ability to lead and inspire people to achieve and to grow their abilities
- Ability to manage time and a work life balance
