Job Category: Mid-level Manager, oversees and directs the manufacturing and delivery of products, services or functions, ensuring high quality products through the work of subordinate employees, implements policies, programs and directives set by the organization's executives, and is responsible for motivating teams, ensure adequate training, safety and pay determination, hire and termination decisions, and performance reviews. Function interacts with all other plant departments and interpersonal skills and influencing other areas to cooperate and support operations are important job expectations.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 6+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a pharmaceutical (or similar) manufacturing or packaging facility
- Lean Manufacturing (Six Sigma) experience or Certification highly preferred
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the plant, ensuring that all safety, quality, and production objectives are met.
- Manage and supervise all plant operations ensuring that the highest level of productivity, safety and quality are maintained at all times.
- Manage shift supervisors and maintain close contact with all operations personnel ensuring smooth shift transitions, accurate reporting and performance/efficiencies improvements.
- Develop and foster effective and productive teams using ongoing performance management.
- Ensure that continual process improvement is practiced through the use of Lean Manufacturing tools and activities.
- Ensure the accurate accounting of all inventories and closely monitor any deviations from the estimated inventory.
- Support and enforce the use of the functional organization and enforce the use of operating policies and procedures.
- Proactively identify challenges and operational issues in the plant and develop solutions.
- Generates monthly work-in progress report and adjust job cost estimates as necessary.
- Coordinates monthly production schedule with master schedule.
- Communicate and endorse the company safety program through regularly scheduled meetings.
- Initiate and embrace a safety culture where all employees feel comfortable communicating safety concerns.
- Ensure that all quality problems are acted upon, and the results are being monitored.
- Train staff to look for and report quality issues in all phases of product life at plant.
- Foster a workforce focused on a high level of teamwork, productivity, safety and performance.
- Improve people management by setting goals, action plans and holding people accountable
- Make key personnel decisions including but not limited to hiring, promotion, team building, coaching, discipline, and termination.
- Ensuring all regulatory documents in compliance with SOPs, FDA Regulations, and cGMP policy where applicable.
- Directs and manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, safety and other production/planning/performance-related activities
- Reviews logs, datasheets, and reports to ensure adequate production levels and safe production environments or to identify abnormalities with equipment or processes
- Troubleshoots day-to-day problems and concerns
- Hires and trains plant employees to the right competencies
