Reverie 73, a Massachusetts adult use cannabis retailer, is looking for a Managing Director to oversee activities at our three MA dispensaries (one operational, two opening by summer). This is a tremendous opportunity for a retail professional comfortable with calling the shots in a highly regulated, still unsettled industry. Responsibilities will include working closely with Reverie's management professionals to deliver: strong and continuously improving financial results, unassailable compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, workplace cultures and environments focused on outstanding employee and customer experiences, superior operational performance, and active, supportive relationships with host communities.

The successful candidate will possess superior leadership and people management skills, an ability to balance the big picture and strategy with detail and tactics, outstanding retail customer service know-how and skill, and a never-ending focus on achieving company and employee goals and aspirations. The Managing Director must mesh well with our team - individuals who are outstanding in their profession and are committed to delivering differentiated and superior results in an increasingly crowded and ever-changing market.

Experience in the cannabis industry is strongly preferred, but not absolutely required if prior experience involves a highly regulated industry. The ability to lead, educate and motivate colleagues and build cohesive and quality-focused retail teams will help us ensure Reverie 73 remains the place where quality people work and prepare distinctive, quality experiences for our customers.

Overview / Objectives

  • Drive increasing value for Reverie 73 ownership and employees.
  • Deliver multi-function executional leadership and guidance, to promote growth and meet all financial and employee-related objectives.
  • Ensure MA company culture reflects Reverie 73 values and mission, compliance and quality, continuous improvement, host community support, and employee camaraderie.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and be accountable for the overall success of the business in Massachusetts. Responsible for the overall operation across all disciplines, brands, functions, and locations.
  • Collaborate with Reverie 73 ownership Managing Directors in other states to shape strategy, set objectives and metrics, and define tactics to achieve prescribed business goals.
  • Work aggressively and collaboratively to meet or exceed quality, growth, revenue, profit, and employee retention targets.
  • Hire, lead, and leverage direct reports.
    • Assess and acquire talent in line with Reverie 73 values (prioritizing fit)
    • Support, direct, and coach (development and accountability)
    • Identify and drive implementation of growth strategies (focus on business goals)
    • Oversee and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the business (culture; big picture; dirty hands)
  • Oversee, reinforce, and hold employees accountable for safety and compliance with all state, local, and company rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Manage performance-to-budget; Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial and leading indicators of performance; understand underlying drivers and improvement plans.
  • Communicate and collaborate with ownership on budget, resources, systems, and company needs driving continuous progress and improvement across all company functions.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment that upholds Reverie 73 core values, respects every employee equally, and supports active corporate involvement in community activities.
  • Direct, promote, and support efforts towards a diverse and inclusive employee population, and an earned reputation for willingly supporting local efforts to improve lives in the larger community.
  • Build and sustain strong, positive relationships with local and state officials and industry regulators.
  • Identify and test out new opportunities for unlocking growth and building world-class customer and employee experiences.
  • Participate actively in the Massachusetts cannabis industry network.
  • Mentor / teach / coach all levels.

Qualifications

  • Education and work experience
    • 15+ years of successful management experience in a startup and/or complex / regulated industry.
    • Cannabis industry experience strongly preferred.
    • Exceptional leadership and management skills.
    • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and skills
    • Superior communication skills to include listening, verbal, written and presentation skills.
    • Successful track record with being a team player as well as building, leading, and motivating teams.
    • Superior organizational, project management, time management and multi- tasking skills.
    • Expertise working with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Requirements
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current Marijuana Establishment Agent Registration Card.
    • Able to successfully pass an extensive background check.
