Hybrid Work Model
SLC Management operates in a hybrid environment with a mix of in-office and virtual work where our employees are empowered to do their best. Generally, employees are expected to work two-three days in-office each week with flexibility depending on their business, client and team needs.
Job Description:
Senior Director, Operational Risk (First Line) - SLC Management
What is in it for you:
We are seeking a Senior Director, Operational Risk (First Line)to be part of our dynamic risk management team. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Operational Risk, SLC Management. The Senior Director, Risk will support the investment adviser Operational Risk management program.
What you will do:

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and mitigation of Operational Risks. Collaborate with various business leaders to address specific risk issues, assess solutions or mitigation activities, and develop remediation plans.
  • Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes. Manage Governance throughout the firm to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Assist business with policy, procedure and operating guideline updates, approvals and new documents.
  • Collaborate with various teams and departments across the front, middle and back office and assist them with Operational Risk framework adherence. Coordinate recurring risk management meetings with teams and affiliates to discuss the resurgence of risks, new risk exposures or any other activities going on within the business.
  • Design, prepare and create reporting for Operational Risk which would be communicated in Committee meetings, Board meetings and other use cases.
  • Manage business continuity and crisis management deliverables by organizing tabletop exercises, updating business continuity/crisis management plans and executing on other program related activities.
  • Serve as the secretary to various risk related committees.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on Operational Risk Events ensuring the business has remediation plans established, documented and are complying with reporting requirements.
  • Identify areas of potential Operational Risk and vulnerability; manage and drive effective resolution, reporting updates to management.
  • Manage and facilitate key Operational Risk management programs which include but are not limited to Operational Risk Event Management, Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, Business Continuity, Emerging Risks, Records Management, Third Party Management and Crisis Management. They will also be responsible for raising awareness and communicating to the First Line of Defense about issues identified, remediation planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Communicate Operational Risk issues and trends, prepare Operational Risk reports to management.
  • Act as technical advisor and support business initiatives from a risk management perspective.
  • In partnership with the business, manage the adherence to the Model and End User Computing Risk Management program requirements.
  • Responsible for managing IT risk to include the oversight of day-to-day cybersecurity governance, risk and compliance operations of SLC Managements environment.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and accountability through training, education, and risk management consultative support.

What you will need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • CFA (or similar) designation, ACAMS, Industry Exams & Courses (e.g. FINRA, CSI) are a plus.
  • 10+ years relevant risk management experience in asset management.

  • Ability to navigate in a complex and matrixed organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, and influencing skills, and a team player mindset.
  • Demonstrate ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis.
  • Ability to translate strategic direction from leader into tactical plans; implement tactical plans; provide input to strategic plans; and champion the development of departmental goals and objectives.
  • Experience with private funds, and separately managed accounts and the unique operational challenges that alternatives present, such as valuation, managing properties, portfolio companies and loan administration, and complex funding mechanisms and processes, is also valued.
