Job Summary:
The Managing Director of Academic Operations and Compliance holds a pivotal role within the Executive MBA (EMBA) Global Network team. This individual works as a key partner to the Assistant Dean of the EMBA Global Network to assure the programs are strategically and operationally sound and compliant with university and school regulations.
The Managing Director is the primary EMBA contact with school and university registrars, the Deputy Dean, the EMBA Academic Director and school Faculty Chairs, all the while keeping a keen eye on compliance issues related to the delivery of academic and co-curricular content within the EMBA programs. In addition, the Managing Director oversees the delivery of academic and co-curricular content to approximately 500 Executive MBA students across the Evanston and Miami campuses.
Please Note: Occasional weekends and evenings as requested and with some possible travel, as required.
Specific Responsibilities :
Strategic Planning and Oversight:
• Define, direct, and lead the development of a vibrant strategic plan focused on the EMBA Global Network's academic and co-curricular content delivery, striving to maintain the program's strong brand as one of the top Executive MBA offerings in the world.
• Ensure that program academic content remains current and cutting-edge by collaborating with the marketing, admissions, and information technology systems teams as necessary to achieve these goals.
• Provide visionary, operational, strategic, and administrative leadership, and oversight, with a primary focus on enhancing the EMBA academic experience and promoting operational excellence.
• Develop and manage mechanisms for gathering industry intelligence to identify new educational opportunities, monitor peer program developments, and evaluate best practices.
• Coordinate research initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and distill research findings into actionable insights. Spearhead new research endeavors in support of EMBA's mission in both traditional and working professional education.
Compliance:
• Work in partnership with school and university registrars to assure strong compliance with university rules and regulations, as well as effective enrollment and registration practices.
• Serves as content expert and an internal consultant for compliance with enrollment, course scheduling and University policies.
• Oversee creation of course calendar and schedule. Insure optimal operational efficiency.
• Create systems and processes related to assuring financial strength and viability of programs. Insure optimally efficient use of school facilities and resources.
Relationships and Partnerships:
• Serve as key advocate for EMBA programs with school academic leadership, in particular the Deputy Dean, the EMBA Academic Director and Faculty Chairs. Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty eligible to potentially teach in programs, advocating with decision makers for diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty teaching in programs.
• Create and deliver practices designed to assure an exemplary experience for faculty, including onboarding practices and support.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with academic and administrative leaders across Kellogg and Northwestern while promoting EMBA and Kellogg's vision and mission.
Leadership Development:
• Accountable for building, leading and developing a high performing team within a positive team environment.
• Accountable for collaborating and partnering with key Kellogg and University stakeholders to build cohesive and collaborative relationships, resulting in service and operational excellence.
Miscellaneous
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or JD or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education.
• Minimum of 10+ years of people management experience in an academic setting
• 10+ years of progressive Higher Ed experience
• Demonstrated experience working in a higher education academic setting, including navigating challenges related to program management and delivery.
• Demonstrated experience working in high intensity settings, where an analytical skill set was valued and used on a regular basis

Preferred Qualifications:
• MBA/advanced degree in management or a relevant discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
• Experience working at Kellogg and/or Northwestern University or a similar Higher Education institution
Target hiring range for this position will be between $140,000 - $180,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
