OVERVIEW

The Manager Software Engineering will provide management and team leadership to create, maintain and support software and database systems in an Agile / Scrum environment including discovery, development, testing and implementation support. Responsible for managing and directing team of developers through the entire product lifecycle. Responsible for managing and directing team in continuous improvement of Scrum methodologies and best practices while upholding technical standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide leadership in researching and determining appropriate platforms, architectures and technologies to ensure TeamHealth patterns and practices remain current with modern industry standards
• Lead, manage and direct Software Engineering teams for the entire project life cycle by managing resource allocation, and ensuring that technical standards and Scrum best practices are followed
• Lead, manage and direct Software Engineering teams in communicating status of active projects and technical implementation challenges to project management, business stakeholders and project steering committees
• Lead, manage and direct Software Engineering teams in the discovery and design phase of the software development lifecycle by managing relationships with Product Owners to determine the optimal technical solutions to business needs and to identify and recommend product enhancements to improve existing systems or operational procedures
• Lead, manage and direct Software Engineering teams in the development/testing phase of the software development lifecycle by providing technical expertise to empower the team to independently write well designed and testable code to meet defined objectives and deadlines, following established TeamHealth patterns and practices
• Provide supervisory management of direct reports including performance reviews, facilitating professional development, and other tasks as assigned by the Director of Technical Delivery and human resources
• Responsible for maintaining and updating development skills by participating in educational opportunities consistent with the technologies and methodologies established at TeamHealth
• Partner with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Project Managers to ensure all project documentation, processes and artifacts are produced in a timely manner

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems or an applied science or equivalent experience
• Experience developing, leading and managing a high performing team
• Experience with C#, C, Java or other similar languages
• Experience with the Microsoft .NET development platform
• Experience with relational database design and SQL
• Demonstrated proficiency with modern design patterns
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to travel to corporate office for meetings 2x per year
