Job Description
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operational Excellence, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing Martin Marietta’s Operational Excellence program throughout the Pacific Region. The role will focus on strategic planning, employee engagement and development, and operational improvement. The candidate will support all activities assigned that will help support continued growth for Martin Marietta.
Key requirements:
- Develop and implement continuous training to all employees to give them the knowledge necessary to perform their jobs at a safe and optimal level.
- Provide all operations with real time data analysis and solutions to optimize the operations to improve safety results, KPI’s, and financial results.
- Ensure division capital / projects are planned and optimized to create the greatest long-term benefit to the Enterprise, providing project input/approval where necessary to ensure success.
- Lead initiatives throughout the Region to improve plant performance including annual Operational Excellence Audits, Monthly Divisional Calls, Monthly Plant Calls, Smart Belt Scale Implementation, Crusher Automation, wash plant water optimization, and many others.
- Lead reliability and benchmarking plant performance metrics supporting division and district goals and expectations.
- Track, document, maintain, and present site KPI’s, wins, trends, training, initiative completion, and other metrics to help operate and optimize the business.
- Document, and communicate division ‘best practice’ principles, expectations and solutions for surface and dredging operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 10+ years in the mining or construction industry preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience managing projects, tasks, dead-lines, and priorities in a fast-paced organization.
- Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving skills with demonstrated role model skill in software use, computer literacy and communication/customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as facilitate team-based working sessions managing multiple priorities.
- Solid understanding of the aggregates production process
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate others.
- Ability to provide direct and actionable feedback.
- Proven success with developing people and teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communications; relationship building as well as presentation skills to present project concepts and manager change at all levels within the company.
- Highly skilled in use of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Aggflow, and other productivity tools
Travel
- Travel will be frequent and primarily within the Division. Out-of-area and overnight travel will be expected. The job operates 50% of the time in mining locations to include quarries, mines, and remote offices. 50% of the time will be in a professional office environment.
