Join Us as Our Food Safety& Culinary Compliance Assistant Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Safety& Culinary Compliance Assistant Manager to support our cafes in the West Region, providing specialized knowledge in areas of Food Safety, Food Labeling and Allergen program, and  Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), to ensure that the overall program is in regulatory compliance with local, state and federal standards. You will collaborate with clients and management on the development, implementation and execution of Food Safety and quality assurance. This is a hybrid position, with required traveling to other locations as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and spearhead menu signage, labeling systems, and allergen programs for multi units
  • Set regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and verify that staff is maintaining sanitation levels
  • Ensure cafes are meeting all EHS, HACCP, Food Safety, and Health & Safety guidelines
  • Work with Account Manager to update departmental standard operating procedures
  • Work closely with HR and safety departments to ensure all kitchen activities remain compliant with all local and state guidelines including Cal/OSHA and LADPH
  • Report all injuries and accidents in accordance with company policies and procedures and local health authorities
  • Oversee and maintain all safety compliance and incident reporting procedures to ensure Key Performance Indicators are met
  • Assist in creating a hospitality culture within the organization, particularly in areas where it may be lacking. This could include promoting positive customer service practices and ensuring that all interactions with guests are professional and welcoming.
  • Collaborate with Chefs to ensure menu and ingredient consistency
  • Lead training in quality assurance checks on food offerings, guest experience, and Food Safety.
  • Work with senior management to set key performance objectives and deadlines for operation improvements
  • Partner with management on cafe audits and communicate necessary changes to appropriate departments/managers
  • Collaborate on upcoming training presentations with Operations team and onsite management
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate regulatory, third-party audits, and client audits with complete and timely follow up and closure as needed
  • Communicate regulatory changes to senior management to maintain compliance and adherence to local, state, and federal requirements
  • Coordinate special projects with the Operations Team that are hospitality focused
  • Attend and participate in Operation Meetings including weekly, monthly, quarterly meetings, and as needed
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient in computer skills and programs like Google Experience developing, implementing, and training Standard Operating Procedures
  • Strong communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Sense of urgency and ability to work and lead a team within a safe manner
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Project management skills

Education & Work Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in food industry or related experience
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and statistical analysis
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal
  • SQF/HACCP/GFSI/FSMA knowledge (plus)
  • At least five years relative experience in kitchen and operations management in a full service, moderate to high volume food service establishment
  • Solid track record of success in previous assignments/operation

Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain an active Manager’s Food Handlers Card, as required by the California Health Department.
  • Must be able to travel to other states as needed for business purposes
  • Authorization to work in the US

Physical Demands:

  • Physical Stamina: Standing, walking, and some heavy lifting required for job tasks.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to perceive and adjust to various visual demands.
