Overview: The Manager of Disaster Recovery plays a critical role in ensuring the resilience and continuity of our organization's IT systems and data in the face of unforeseen events. This role will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining measures that facilitate system and data recovery during emergencies or disasters. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
Responsibilities: - Recruits, hires, and manages performance of Disaster Recovery team. Ensures staff receive adequate training, development, coaching, and motivation for effective performance and retention
- Prioritizes tasks and work assignments for the department
- Fosters a culture of preparedness and responsiveness
- Develops and advises on DISASTER RECOVERY policies, standards, practices, and plans
- Ensures compliance based on Information System strategy, and business/regulatory requirements
- Maintains detailed documentation OF DISASTER RECOVERY plans, procedures, and configurations
- Generates reports on recovery performance and compliance and presents findings and recommendations to leadership
- Creates and delivers program review and Disaster Recovery Awareness presentations to leadership and executive project review committees
- Defines recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for all for critical and essential systems, applications, and data
- Develops, submits, and manages annual capital and operation budgets related to Disaster Recovery activities
- Evaluates existing infrastructure components (servers, networks, storage, etc.) for resilience
- Advises on redundancy, failover mechanisms, and backup solutions
- Identifies and evaluates potential risks to IT infrastructure and data and develops comprehensive contingency plans to mitigate these risks
- Conducts periodic review of backup procedures and audits availability of recovery data
- Ensures that backup and replication strategies support the Disaster Recovery Plan
- Regularly reviews and update DISASTER RECOVERY plans to adapt to changing technology and business needs
- Conducts regular DISASTER RECOVERY drills and exercises and validates the effectiveness of recovery procedures
- Documents lessons learned and refined processes based on feedback
- Conducts workshops and training sessions with recovery teams and plan coordinators as needed
- Leads the response efforts during an actual disasters or incident
- Coordinates with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders
- Communicates status updates and recovery progress to leadership
- Collaborates with third-party vendors and cloud providers for DISASTER RECOVERY services
- Evaluates vendor capabilities, contracts, and service-level agreements
- Maintains detailed documentation OF DISASTER RECOVERY plans, procedures, and configurations. Generate reports on recovery performance and compliance and presents findings and recommendations to leadership
- Establishes and maintains relationships with key business personnel and serves as a resource to business units for business recovery planning
- Participates in industry and other professional Disaster Recovery networks to ensure awareness of industry standards, trends, and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience
- At least five years of experience in DISASTER RECOVERY planning, infrastructure management, or related roles; Healthcare experience highly desired
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII)
- Working knowledge of Cloud Computing Services for Disaster Recovery (Azure Preferred)
- Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions during emergencies
- Project management skills
- Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills
- Experience working in complex data center environments
- Working knowledge of MS office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Viso, Project and SharePoint
- Occasionally travel up to 20%
