SUMMARY
The Manager, IT Operations is focused on (a) providing technical leadership and driving operational efficiency in how IT services are delivered, (b) manages team members that offer front-line of service to the business users of IT, including requests for IT service and support, (c) working with various department leaders to identify and ensure the progress on strategic and tactical projects (d) focusing on the continuous improvement of the IT functions, and (e) driving consistency in the application of IT processes and management systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical leadership and oversee the daily operations of the IT Operations department and ensure that systems and networks are running smoothly. This includes local and wide area networks, Azure cloud services, servers, data stores, firewalls, switches, user workstations, software licensing/subscriptions, Asset Management, and vendor contracts.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and processes to improve IT operations and increase efficiency and productivity.
- Manage technology vendors and service providers to ensure that the organization's technology needs are met.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and systems that improve IT infrastructure and support the organization's business goals.
- Lead a team of IT professionals and provide guidance and support to ensure that they are meeting their goals and objectives.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the organization's business needs and work closely with other departments to ensure that IT is aligned with those needs.
- Ensure that the organization's IT policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with industry standards and company regulations.
- Manage the IT budget and ensure that expenses are in line with the organization's financial goals
- Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and developments in IT operations management.
- Work closely with information security team to secure external edges of NACD’s network and internal hardware, software, and data architecture, including compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies based on defined needs that enhance functions, are more cost effective.
- Report regularly deliverable and project status, including accomplishments, planned activities, schedule adherence and other assigned metrics.
- Develop processes to monitor and test data backups to ensure completion and recoverability, including disasters.
- Ensure resources are available for occasional after-hours and weekend work as required to ensure full systems availability and/or deployment of new or upgraded technology solutions.
- Monitor team health, mediate conflict and provide training and mentoring the duties and performance of technical support specialists and vendors.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science or commensurate security-sensitive technical and management experience is required. Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience designing, monitoring, managing and securing IT infrastructure that is primarily comprised of Windows and Cisco devices, enterprise Ethernet, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching and IP addressing; managing Microsoft Azure and VMware vSphere is required; knowledge of Windows servers/workstations, anti-virus, monitoring and managing network and systems security.
Must have excellent communication skills and experience effectively communicating with technical and non- technical audiences, as well as demonstrated efficient and effective use of problem solving and task prioritization techniques to solve complex challenges. Must be able to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal. Must possess an ability to work well with others as well as independently, with extreme attention to detail. Experience managing others is required.

NACD employees are required to be fully vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus by their first day of employment. An employee is “fully vaccinated” two weeks after receiving their second dose of a two-dose vaccination series or two weeks after the first shot of a single-dose vaccine (or as described by the vaccine manufacturer).
The salary/hourly range for this position is $110,000-$115,000 plus bonus potential. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
