In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies - Oral Finished Products facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. The Position

Lead & develop the Facilities Engineering team to ensure that utility system performance meets stakeholder needs & short term & future stakeholder needs are met by developing & executing tactical & strategic plans.

 

Relationships

Senior Manager, Facilities, Utilities, Systems, Equipment (FUSE).

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop, coach & mentor direct reports
  • Develop robust processes to exceed all environmental, safety & health and quality requirements & objectives
  • Drive performance to meet stakeholder needs
  • Develop & successfully execute long term technical & process improvement plans
  • Own the Utility Master Plan
  • Support investment project process (Project Portfolio Management)
  • Drive cLEAN practices to include 5S, Systematic Problem Solving (SPS) and process confirmation of technical & maintenance standards
  • Drive technical & maintenance standardization & collaboration across shift teams
  • Support & ensure collaboration across sites via Process Groups & contribute to better/best practices & projects
  • Ensure completion of high-level projects & investigations
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 10-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid drivers license.

 

Development of People

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

 

Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

 

Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study from an accredited university required
  • Master’s degree or industry equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership (direct or indirect) experience in Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, or Maintenance is required. Pharmaceutical or other regulated industries preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of in facility engineering, facility maintenance, or directly related area required
  • Knowledgeable of Utilities systems, to include purified water, chilled water, clean steam, electrical & HVAC systems is required
  • Experience driving process improvements/design using systematic methodologies, LEAN & Six Sigma strongly preferred
  • Proven expertise in mentoring & development, change management, planning & organizing, managing execution & revising work plans for complex issues addressed by cross-functional teams preferred
  • CMRP, AMP or equivalent certification preferred
