Your role at Clorox:
We are seeking an experienced Plant Engineering Manager to lead daily operations at our mid-sized manufacturing facility. In this role, you will oversee Engineering and Maintenance teams, manage budgets, and ensure optimal plant performance. Responsibilities include technical documentation, fixed asset management, facility infrastructure, and site security. You will also play a key role in project oversight, reviewing designs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. In this role, you will:
Operations Technical Support
- Ensure engineers and technical support resources focus on achieving plant business results, including productivity, cost reduction, environmental compliance, safety, and new product initiatives.
- Establish and communicate technical work priorities within the plant organization.
- Oversee plant facility management, including security, safety, maintenance, utility systems, and permits.
- Maintain the plant's Facility Improvement Plan (FIP) for the next 3-5 years.
- Manage the plant's Master Site Plan, ensuring alignment with capital projects, space utilization, and future expansions.
- Lead the plant's construction/contractor safety program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Actively support Plant Operations and their safety programs and metrics.
- Serve as a member of the Plant Leadership Team under the plant manager's guidance.
Engineering Technical Execution
- Review and provide feedback on all engineering and technical work, ensuring adherence to Clorox Eng. Standards and safety/regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective communication between PEM, plant, and platform teams, facilitating reviews and concurrence.
- Drive Plant Equipment Standardization and "Best Practices," obtaining Platform Team approval for modifications.
- Keep OEM informed of significant equipment and technology selections.
- Take ownership of the plant's technical documentation, ensuring maintenance and updates according to Company standards.
- Develop and implement a plan for regular technical documentation updates.
- Lead Plant WCO Early Management Pillar, fostering results, plant engagement, and utilization of EM tools.
Capital Management/Project Management
- Follow established Clorox Capital Project Management practices, including adherence to the Capital Decision Matrix, GSS procurement practices, cost and schedule control, and scope management.
- Take ultimate accountability for all capital spending at the location, ensuring appropriate systems for monitoring and control are in place.
- Prepare and conduct internal plant reviews, managing the plant's annual and 3-year capital program.
- Provide quarterly updates in SAP of the latest "Planned Spending" for each budgeted or approved project, along with quarterly cash flow forecasts and related one-time expense estimates.
- Personally, review all AFEs, ensuring clear and concise descriptions with compelling business justifications, and review and communicate external requests for new products, reformulations, new packages, etc. Monitor project executions, promptly notifying the OEM of any significant deviations, and ensure tracking of qualifying hours for capitalization and R&D credits.
Plant Leadership and development
- Accountable for mentoring and coaching plant engineering personnel, including those not directly reporting to the PEM.
- Manage performance for all direct reports through processes like PMP, Objectives, IDP, and Career Interest discussions.
- Participate in the Plant Leadership Team on P2 Grid and apply the Engineers Guide to Career Development in career planning.
- Schedule and lead "Capability Assessments" with OEM's prior concurrence for individuals as needed.
- Obtain OEM concurrence on hiring, promotions, filling open positions, and changes in responsibilities for plant engineering personnel.
- Directly manage the plant Maintenance Manager, providing coaching, support, and driving long-term improvement in maintenance productivity and cost.
What we look for:
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 years of engineering experience
- 2+ years of managerial/leadership experience
- Manufacturing environment experience with rotating equipment, elevated surfaces, temperature variations etc. knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering from an accredited institution
- 10 years of experience in plant based engineering roles.
- 2 years of FDA Experience
- 2 years of leadership experience in a plant setting
- Able to Coach & Develop others as part of their daily work.
- Able to influence and accomplish work through others.
- Exceptional written & verbal communication skills.
- Capability to design in multiple functions

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
-Zone A: $104,100 - $199,100
-Zone B: $95,500 - $183,300
-Zone C: $86,800 - $166,600
