WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Manager, Demand Planning will work closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams to deliver the most informed and robust Demand Plan to drive optimal inventory levels and maximize the customer experience. This role is critical in understanding where Orgain is today and where it is going tomorrow through Demand Planning processes and cross-functional partnerships. The Manager, Demand Planning will be responsible for driving the Demand Planning function and the Demand Forecast at the channel/pack-type/sku level as the source of truth for operational activities. This position will involve creating and expanding on the current toolset, as well as executive summaries for a burgeoning Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process while making recommendations for processes and performance improvements. The Manager, Demand Planning, together with the Director, Demand Planning, will be devout proponents of building best-in-class Demand Planning expertise at Orgain.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 


Demand Forecasting

o Develop and maintain demand forecasts for assigned product categories using historical sales data, external data points (customer inventory, POS), market trends, and input from sales and marketing teams. 

o Analyze and adjust forecasts based on promotions, seasonal factors, and market dynamics. 

o Further develop the Forecasting, Forecast Accuracy, and reporting toolset. 

o Identify and escalate critical gaps identified with shifts in trends, forecast changes, new demand, or new product introductions that will impact the timely fulfillment of customers' orders.


Collaboration and Communication

o Work closely with sales and marketing teams to gather market intelligence, customer insights, and promotional plans to refine demand forecasts.

o Communicate demand plans and insights to cross-functional teams to facilitate production planning and procurement activities. 

o Lead cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders across sales, business intelligence, marketing, operations, to ensure best customer experience and company performance.


S&OP Process

o Contribute to the Demand Review and facilitate the overall S&OP cycle, ensuring the continued development of the S&OP process at Orgain. 

o Own the Demand Review and drive alignment between demand forecasts, production plans, and inventory levels. 

o Provide input on capacity planning, production scheduling, and resource allocation.


Inventory Management

o Partner with Supply Planning and Distribution Network teams to maintain optimal inventory levels through accurate demand forecasting. 

o Identify slow-moving or excess inventory and recommend appropriate action plans.


Continuous Improvement

o Build and continually improve baseline processes to enhance efficiency and performance. 

o Think outside the box and focus on both the big picture and the details to drive continuous improvement.

o Perform root cause analysis of demand issues and provide permanent resolutions.

o Be flexible and adapt to changing goals and ambiguity in a relatively new Demand Planning department


Other

o Set individual goals for improving and expanding on everyday job functions, as well as on the greater social and environmental aspects of your work. We expect that you remain accountable to these goals and report your progress in performance reviews.

Requirements

 o  Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS) are a plus. 

 o  7+ years of experience in Demand Planning at CPG companies ranging from industry leaders in consumer goods to fast-growing start-up with proven track record of improving forecast accuracy and improving supply chain performance.

 o  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret data and trends. 

 o  Ability to think both big-picture and short-term to provide long-term solutions and detailed, short-term solutions. 

 o  Experience working with Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes and cross-functional collaboration.

 o  Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Netsuite, Aptean Just Foods is a plus). 

 o  Experience with Forecasting in Excel as well as Forecasting systems (SAP-APO, John Galt ForecastX, Logility)

 o  Advanced skills in Excel and dealing with large data sets, with an emphasis on structuring data to make informed decisions.

 o  Experience with Excel VBA, SQL, PowerBI, and Python is a plus. 

 o  Prior experience with Jet Reports is a plus.

 o  Experience using PowerPoint, Vizio, Miro, or Lucidcharts for process flow mapping.  

 o  Strong skills in report writing and building executive scorecards. 

 o  Strong collaboration skills with the ability to drive and influence complex decision-making with various stakeholder groups and build consensus. 

 o  Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and a strong commitment. 

 o  Self-directed with a demonstrated sense of accountability and ability to work independently. 

 o  Ability to adapt to the changing needs of a dynamic growth-oriented business. 

 o  Proven leadership experience and the ability to mentor and coach junior team members.


WORKING CONDITIONS

o  Position located in Irvine, CA and requires 3 days a week minimum in office subject to change per business needs. May include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned to the associate from time to time; the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands. This job description does not constitute a contract of employment and the company may exercise its employment-at-will rights at any time.


SALARY RANGE: $110,000 to 135,000 per year

Final salary is commensurate upon a variety of factors, including work location, experience, skills, field of responsibility, and education credentials of the associate.
