POSITION SUMMARY | Data Research Analyst Manager
Kingland’s Operational Data Outsourcing (ODO) team provides data management, validation, and enrichment services for Financial Services firms. The Data Research Analysts (DRA) are responsible for research of financial securities – such as stocks, bonds, and funds – and researching the legal entities that issue the securities. The DRA Manager is responsible for daily supervision and leadership of the part-time DRA Interns, including interviewing/hiring; scheduling and timesheet management; training; monitoring/managing performance, including throughput and quality; ensuring appropriate levels of communication and engagement with the group; and leading projects to drive efficiency and process improvements for Operational Data Outsourcing.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES | Data Research Analyst Manager
- Interview and hire DRA interns, including engaging in Iowa State campus activities to attract talent from the University.
- Onboard and train DRA interns, organizing retraining sessions as needed to ensure skill needs are met.
- Continually engage with the interns through a variety of channels, recommending and executing on creative ways to keep them engaged in their work and excited about their position at Kingland.
- Conduct routine 1:1 meetings with each intern to discuss performance, development needs, engagement, etc. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to the interns, closely managing performance issues and also watching for promotion opportunities.
- Manage DRA time and attendance by monitoring hours, approving timesheets, etc.
- Continually evaluate DRA performance against documented expectations. Monitor and review productivity reports, proposing and implementing process improvements to gain efficiencies and accuracy among the DRA work.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS | Data Research Analyst Manager
- Bachelor's degree in Management, Business, or a related field; Or two years comparable experience leading an operations team within the financial data operations industry.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, including the ability to run provided queries and modify existing queries for new use cases.
- Strong communication skills.
- High energy with the ability and desire to motivate, engage with and develop a large group of interns on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to analyze time reporting and performance data, to evaluate outliers and potential concerns in job performance of team members.
- Ability to manage team in conflict resolution - including managing the team through conflicting schedule requirements and interpersonal challenges such as when a staff member is not performing as required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of ODO research processes is strongly recommended but not required.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
