The AES CE Manager of Data Analytics is responsible for leading the team and execution of strategy to deliver technical insights of the operational portfolio with the development of tools, reports, and dashboards to serve partners. This person leads a team of engineers, analysts, and specialists to build sophisticated scalable analytics solutions, including initiatives to incorporate AI/ML to operational processes and tools.
Responsibilities:
Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks to identify job-site hazards when traveling to sites.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team to support the operational portfolio via Data Analytics solutions, processes, and tools
Execute the strategy to improve the insights, quality, and automation of data systems and reporting, in compliance with AES and Compliance standards
Manage team to deliver NERC GADS reporting and data editing function for curating operational data to deliver finalized reports
Enforce standards to deliver reliable KPIs, portfolio-level performance/reliability metrics, and production forecasts for AES partners and executives
Deliver a unified Data Analytics platform to historize operational data and optimize the use of Data Analytics software/tools for AES CE
Improve the performance of AES CE operational solar, wind, and energy storage assets via application of new tools, data sources, and AI/Machine Learning models
Collaborate with IT/OT teams to establish the Data Analytics architecture and warehousing requirements to serve operational insights and standards.
“Stay vigilant” between Operations and Engineering by recording and presenting issues that can be mitigated through better design
Lead all aspects of technical support and maintenance of automated reporting systems used by the CE Asset Management group
As a domain authority and leader, advise other team members across the organization on standard processes for data-related projects
Growth and Leadership
This role participates in budget meetings, Meetings with O&M Leaders, Meetings with Regional Leaders, Meetings with COOs and Executives.
Participates in the budgeting process with O&M leaders, FP&A, Portfolio Asset Management and Commercial team.
Shape AES CE’s growth planning process by contributing to process improvement task forces and other strategic planning activities
Improve and develop processes for the execution of safe, quality and high-performance projects
Educate team on changing trends in technology, standard methodologies and safety
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical field
8+ years of professional experience in Operations, Engineering or Project Management
Leadership experience in leading technical teams and projects
Strong understanding of energy industry trends in production tools and processes
Proficiency with advanced analysis and database tools for development of metrics, business analytics, and dashboards
Advanced proficiency with R, Python, or SAS, as well as SQL
Sophisticated proficiency developing reports and dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense or another BI software
Strong familiarity with DAS and SCADA systems and their data architectures
Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Big Query, or other cloud computing platforms
Ability to work effectively with Microsoft software programs, including-but-not-limited-to Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to lead technical discussions among vendors, collaborators, and internal teams.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks across team members
High degree of dedication to a quality safety culture and an incident-free work environment
Willingness to travel within the U.S. to support company’s portfolio of PV solar/BESS/Wind assets and to attend meetings with customers, up to 10%

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $130.000 and $170.000/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
