Job description

Manages the reporting and forecasting of the Eversource Corporate Financial Operating Plan. Manages the annual processes associated with sales and revenue forecasting, capital and O&M department budgeting, and annual financial planning. Manages the monthly variance analysis and forecasting process associated with all aspects of the Corporate Operating Plan for all subsidiaries and consolidated Eversource.

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with the development, analysis and oversight of annual operating budgets and plans.
  • Prepares, monitors, and reports O&M Expense and Capital Expenditure results against plan for the assigned operating area and makes suggestions for course corrections.
  • Prepares, monitors, and communicates monthly financial O&M Expense and Capital Expenditure projections.
  • Manages the centralized monitoring of financial performance including identification and calculation of risks to the achievement of financial targets and goals.
  • Provides consolidated financial information for the assigned operating area to ensure financial results are explainable and accurate and for inclusion in consolidated reporting.
  • Ensures an effective budget system including thorough and accurate analyses leading to prompt identification of weaknesses in budget related internal controls and sound recommendations for improvements.
  • Recommends and implements various cost-saving ideas related to the budget and internal cost management processes.
  • Supports the development of various regulatory filings and evaluates financial impacts of regulatory decisions and orders as they relate to operation’s costs.
  • Ensures operations management is provided information necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of their operations.
  • Serves as liaison between the financial organization and business unit leadership in the area of financial stewardship, achievement of business unit financial goals and evaluation of course correction opportunities.
  • Monitors all action plans and critical path schedules to ensure deadlines are being met.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships and communications within the leadership team to share ideas, spearhead inter-disciplinary projects and coordinate common work efforts.
  • Implements annual reviews of areas’ compliance-based functions (such as policies, procedures, practices, reporting) to ensure consistent adherence and recommends/implements changes and/or needed improvements.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Knowledge and experience of utility ratemaking theories and processes
  • Knowledge of utility accounting and finance
  • Knowledge of budget and forecast principles and processes.
  • Strong knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability in all areas of financial reporting and analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing operating budget and plans and working across functional/organizational boundaries.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or closely related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Ten (10) plus years related experience which includes managerial, supervisor and/or team leadership experience

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $133,000 - $148,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
