Duties and responsibilities

• Data analytics through integration of information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhance profitability and performance;
• Assist in developing KPIs for key stakeholders;
• Design, maintain and present various analytical reports to explain components of monthly and annual variances to budget and forecasts;
• Develop, support, and help interpret trend analysis;
• Support the Senior FP&A Manager in managing the forecasting and planning process and own the operational/commercial process in the forecasting system;
• Support the Director, Technical Fleet Operations with ad hoc analysis in addition to close collaboration on operating cost budget, forecast and variance analysis development;
• Foster and develop strong relationships with key operating managers, acting as a key liaison between Finance and Operations;
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives on management reporting and standardization;
• Present operational performance at each forecast/budget;
• Participate in the annual year-end audit including preparation of supporting schedules, impairment analysis review and various documentation of position papers;
• Provide support to the Senior Manager, as needed for special projects and ad hoc reporting;
• Work closely with colleagues in other departments to ensure Finance objectives are met;
• Other projects as assigned by management.

Qualification and skills

• 5 years of relevant professional experience;
• Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting, Finance or equivalent);
• CPA or CFA qualified;
• Experience with data analysis tools (Cognos, Power BI, Oracle, SmartView) an asset;
• Familiarity with maritime / logistics / mining / resource sectors desirable;
• Strong analytical, technology and organizational skills;
• Sound judgment and business sense;
• Takes initiative to challenge and improve internal processes;
• Must be a strategic thinker and results oriented;
• Ability to be proactive and effective with minimal supervision, with a desire to learn and understand the technical operations of the business and its assets;
• Strong verbal, written and presentation / communications skills, with superior ability to understand, organize, simplify and translate large volumes of data into intelligible, actionable conclusions and recommendations;
• Team player with an ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines;
• Positive attitude, ethical and accountable;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (experience with power pivot and query an asset).
