Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the evaluation of data processing and data quality assurance activities for the Federally funded National Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program (NBCCEDP) through the Well Woman Health Check Program (WWHP). The position will review patient documents and enter data with speed and accuracy at an error rate at or below. 01%. In addition, the position will review the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and CMS codes on the patient listings, ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with NBCCEDP and Medicare regulations, follow up with the clinic coordinators on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear and communicate with other contracted clinical staff regarding documentation. This individual will attend weekly huddles, learn the program SOW, NBCCEDP manual , CPT codes, and be well vice in current procedural terminology.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (# days per week in the office/hoteling).

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
Review patient documents and billing submitted by contractors participating in the Well Woman Health Check Program (WWHP) for accuracy and enter data in CAST database. Supports daily data program activities and ensures accuracy and timeliness of data entry including prioritizing of activities and tasks. Performs studies/research medical procedure codes billed to ensure compliance with NBCCEDP Program Manual and the State of Arizona WWHP policies and procedures as stated in the program Scope of Work. Communicate effectively with providers and other clinical staff regarding insufficient or unclear documentation. Deny/Approve or correct codes based on medical documentation provided. Engage contractors for clarification, missing documentation or to remind them of the program guidelines and inform them of program funding appropriation. Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly. Research coding for complex or unusual cases. Troubleshoot difficult cases and coding scenarios with Lead Analyst WWHP Program Manager, Cancer Program Administrator, and Epidemiologist for best decision making. Uses available systems and tools to conduct surveys, compiles information, analyzes findings, and recommends practical solutions and support team members as needed. Participate in weekly huddle for program and quarterly contractor meetings. Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Medical billing and coding education/ training.
- CPT codes and Medicare regulations.
- Working knowledge of CMS Medicaid & Medicare authorized billing codes.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel and working with adobe PDF files.
- Data processing and database management methodologies and protocols.

Selective Preference(s):
Certified Medical Billing and Coding and 3 years experience working as a medical biller/coder. Preference given to candidates with a Medical Billing and Coding Certification.

Retirement:
To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will contribute to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27-week wait period for contributions to begin.
