This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. The Maintenance Mechanic IV position is responsible for performing preventative and routine corrective maintenance tasks at a correctional institution; ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position performs a variety of trades at the semi-skilled level and at least two mechanical trades or a combination mechanical and higher-level building trades performed fully at the journey level. This position performs operating, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance on assigned systems and equipment. This position supervises the work of semi-skilled, unskilled or skilled workers (including inmates) to assist in the completion of job assignments as assigned.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

* Knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
