Maintenance Worker (Solid Waste)

The City of Aiken Public Services Department is accepting applications for Maintenance Workers in the Solid Waste Division.

• Candidate must be able to follow a Solid Waste route book, addressing issues and documenting said issues, in writing, on the route ahead of the sanitation trucks
• Must be able to stand for periods of time on the back of a garbage or recycling truck, which involves continual stepping on and off the truck and getting garbage or recycle carts and then dumping them in the truck
• Candidates also assist with the weekly cleaning and greasing of trucks
• Employee is subject to performing all maintenance work within the department, including but not limited to grounds maintenance, yard debris collection, janitorial services, etc.

• Must be able to read and write, and deal effectively with the public
• Must have a valid driver's license in good standing
