Operates Specialized Equipment that may include but is not limited to: snooper truck and boom truck for use in the removal, construction, and maintenance of bridge in District 5. Performs crane rigging and signaling duties to ensure loads moved by crane are safe and properly secured. Performs various skilled labor bridge repairs including but not limited to: concrete spall repair, bridge joint repairs, pile repair, bridge rail repair, etc. Operates common power tools i.e. drills, chainsaws, etc. Constructs wood forms and performs other miscellaneous carpentry projects. Performs skilled bridge Maintenance Worker functions and operates heavy equipment to include but is not limited to: backhoe and excavators. Assists n the operation of levels, laser levels, grade rods, etc. in the layout of construction and maintenance projects. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hour and / or 12 hour shifts. Two (2) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work hours outside the normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental related emergencies.
