SUMMARY

Maintenance will install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments at the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Contributes to plant-wide safety.

    • Perform all duties as listed by working safely with respect to oneself and others.
    • Strict observance and practice of safety rules and lockout procedures.
    • Notifies supervisor or manager immediately if unsafe working conditions or practices are observed and provide recommendations.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
    • Obtains and maintains licenses to operate industrial equipment.
    • Understands, performs, and follows all Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures.

· Emphasize quality in work performed.

· Keeps accurate maintenance records of work performed and components used.

· Effectively prioritize tasks based on production demand requirements and quality output.

· Maintain stock level of maintenance parts and reorders parts when removed from stock, following order guidelines set forth by the Manufacturing Engineer/Engineering Manager.

· Initiate purchase orders for repair and supply items.

· Test and/or observes machinery and equipment prior to releasing to production to ensure quality of work performed.

· Monitor machines or equipment to detect potential malfunction and discusses with supervisor, engineering, or other Maintenance Workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.

· Repair defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts

· When replacing components, utilize direct replacement (model/serial number and brand) whenever possible or equivalent replacement as approved by engineering.

· Repair and maintain physical structure of the facility.

· Set up and operate machine tools such as grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.

· Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

· Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

· Perform routine preventive maintenance according to the PM Schedule to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

· Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.

· Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

· Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.

· Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.

· Make recommendations for outside contractor activities.

· May be required at times to adjust schedule based on machine availability for PM’s or to service down machines

· Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED).

Possess six months to one year of machine operation or warehouse experience (minimum).

  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Two (2) + years’ experience in a manufacturing maintenance setting.

General ability to use computer programs.

Written and verbal communication skills.

Superior problem-solving skills.

Ability to build and maintain positive work relationships with all employees

Ability to implement and report progress on continuous improvement-related projects with high level of attention to detail

Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and use of fractions required.
