The City of Monroe is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker within the Forestry Division of the Department of Public Services.
Requirements include: High school graduate or equivalent; experience as an equipment operator and/or maintenance worker; a State of Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License with a A endorsement; ability to obtain additional certification for chemical application; familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and supplies used in public works activities.
Candidate must also have knowledge of proper safety procedures normally associated with forestry activities.
Ability to work in high places using proper safety equipment; ability to assess situations, and be a problem solver, work effectively under stress, and changes in work priorities.
Candidates will be required to take and pass the City’s aptitude exam with a 70% minimum passing score. Residency within 20 miles of the City’s boundaries is required after one year of employment.
Range of Pay will be $24.42 to $29.43 per hour, DOQ, with excellent fringe benefits. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
