The City of Lynnwood is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to join their Streets and Stormwater Public Works department!
Under general or close supervision depending on task, performs general labor in streets and storm facilities maintenance.
Includes, but is not limited to such essential functions as listed below:
- Replace signs and mounts; fabricate signs according to appropriate standards; maintain sign inventory logs; monitor areas of City for sign need, replacement or elimination.
- Set up "safe work zones" using appropriate signage; flag traffic.
- Assist Maintenance Worker II's with lay out of traffic markings in streets according to blueprints; apply or remove paint stripe, thermoplastic markings, pavement markers.
- Locate storm lines by reading maps and measuring distances; assist in One-Call locations.
- Assist Maintenance Worker IIs to cut out asphalt and concrete; prepare surface for patching; repair streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, stairs, retaining walls, catch basins, driveways and approaches, speed bumps and humps with asphalt; mix, pour, and finish concrete for rebuilding.
- Clean and maintain catch basins; maintain ponds as assigned.
- Performs preventive maintenance on department equipment as assigned; cleans equipment and other department vehicles as assigned.
- Grind trip hazards and thermoplastic, using a rotary grinder.
- Clear vegetation, leading Community Service personnel as assigned.
- Perform other general maintenance work as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Requires one (1) year experience in heavy manual labor or an equivalent combination of related education and experience; must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier. Must possess and retain Washington State Traffic Control and work zone safety certifications or be able to obtain within six months of hire.
