GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides general cleaning of facilities in accordance with industry specifications. Cleans assigned public areas at the facilities and distributes supplies. Responsible for meeting all work requirements contained within each cleaning assignment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Perform custodial services according to established written and informal processes and procedures.
- Wet mop floors and steps; strip, seal, wax and buff when needed.
- Wash windows, shelving, woodwork, furniture, etc; dust and polish when needed.
- Clean and sanitize lunchroom, restrooms, and other public and employee areas; wipe down trim and walls; polish brass and room dividers.
- Maintains a high standard of personal appearance
- Complies with federal, state, and local laws and safety regulations; complies with Next Move policies and respects the confidentiality of customers and persons served.
- Develops and maintains a clean, safe working environment for self and co-workers and ensures participation in Next Move safety programs.
- Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incident of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.
- Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity.
- Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects Goodwill's mission, philosophy, and core values of respect, excellence and stewardship.
- Delivers excellent customer service at all times with both external and internal customers.
- Performs general janitorial duties to include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, emptying waste containers, cleaning windows, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and first aid room, maintain lunchroom area and equipment, spot clean carpets.
- Inspects janitorial closet and restrooms at least once daily for cleanliness and restocking of paper products.
- Operates and maintains power equipment such as scrubber and stripper.
Incidental Functions
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years effective custodial or janitorial experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to travel independently and drive work vehicles as appropriate.
- Ability to work independently and to follow directions with limited supervision
- Ability to engage in physical activity including standing, walking, descending stairs
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use basic tools.
- Ability to work with germicidal, sanitizing and other cleaning products
- Specific vision requirements include close, color, and peripheral vision.
- Must be able to demonstrate upon request functional literacy and numeracy.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of the job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Minimum of six months experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
- Valid California driver's license subject to clearance by Loss Control and Next Move's insurance carrier.
- DOT Strength Classification - High.

WORK CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
- The employee is constantly (100% of the day) required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Climb ladders, stoop, perform repetitive movements and lift up to 50-100 pounds. Occasional local travel required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work within wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, with toxic or caustic chemicals, under outdoor weather conditions, and with risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
