Maintenance Technician — St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes
Job Title: Maintenance Technician - St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position summaryThe Maintenance Technician at St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes is a full-time position that requires the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings and grounds of St. Adalbert and St. Casimir. The Maintenance Technician must be strong in his or her ability to manage projects, take initiative and work to make sure everything on our properties is functioning properly.
Supervisor
The Maintenance Technician reports to the Pastor of St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Major areas of responsibility to be done as needed:
Boiler maintenance
Maintenance on all windows, screens, and doors
Carpentry
Electrical wiring
Plumbing
Landscaping (does not include mowing at St. Adalbert and St. Casimir)
Replace burned out light bulbs or fluorescent tubes
Check and replace smoke alarm batteries
Ensures that the parish busses are in good condition
Contacts and works with contractors on projects as needed
Other duties as needed
Seasonal duties:
Fall
Take out air conditioning units at St. Adalbert office and rectory
Prepare boilers for the winter
Winter
Check all window and door seals.
Manage the heating of the buildings as outlined by the Parish’s heating policy
Put out salt as outlined in the “Policy to remove snow at St Adalbert and St. Casimir”
Spring
Put in air conditioning units in the St. Adalbert office and rectory
Empty and clean the boiler
Summer
Prepare for the fire inspection.
Clean windows
Do any major repairs
Fix sidewalk cracks
Do any necessary sealing of the parking lots
In addition to the tasks listed above, the Maintenance Technician will be expected to respond in a timely way to any work orders submitted. The Maintenance Assistant can assist with these jobs, as well as with larger jobs that require two people.
Qualifications
We do not look for particular degree fulfillments for this job. Expertise in plumbing and electricity is recommended, but not required. The Maintenance Technician needs to be a good leader who can take initiative, delegate, prioritize projects, plan them and execute them. He or she will work with the Maintenance Assistant, who is a contracted employee, in the completion of tasks. Since our parish contains both English and Spanish speakers, facility in Spanish is recommended, but not required.
