Job description

KeenLogic isseeking a highly motivated individual tojoinourteamon Capitol Hill working within the Facilities Maintenance Staff at the House of Representatives Child Care Center. This is an onsite role Monday through Friday. The hours for this position are 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The candidate must have flexibility with schedulingand availability to workadditionalhoursasneeded.Thisisa 12-month contract with thechanceto extend/convert to apermanent positionbasedonperformance.

Background:

ThecandidatewillbeworkinginconjunctionwiththeArchitectoftheCapitolstaff,servingastheChild Care Center Facilities Maintenance Staff. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean space forthe overall well-being ofchildren, families, and staffin a childcare environment

Qualifications:

 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be eligible for a government clearance
  • Must be able to obtain a CPR/AED certification prior to start date
  • Must be able to successfully complete a physical exam and tuberculosis test prior to start date

Job Duties:

 

  • Inspect grounds, classrooms, and other assigned areas with daily safety checklist
  • Respond to work orders and perform repairs on equipment / playgrounds
  • Notify manager on duty of safety issues and concerns upon discovery to mitigate safety risks to staff and children
  • Maintain facility cleanliness by completing daily, weekly, monthly cleaning checklists to ensure high touchpoints and deep cleaning is complete as directed
  • Work with program operations team and HRCCC administrator to determine gaps in facility maintenance
  • Respond to requests for cleaning, building toys/materials for direct care staff, and deep cleaning requestsfromstaffwithintwobusinessdaysofrequest
  • Oversee submission and document follow-up on work orders every 2 weeks
  • Complete and file cleaning checklists by 25th of the third month each quarter (December, March,June,andSeptember)
  • Clean storage areas IAW guidance (i.e., sweeps, wet mop, disinfect/bleach, and polish stainless steel) and secures room
  • Remove overflowing trash cans and empty contents in dumpster as necessary
  • Maintain clean surfaces to mitigate trip and falls hazards on playgrounds, classrooms, and patronwalkwayswithnomorethanoneexceptioninanannualratingperiod
  • Stockandmaintainadequatesuppliesinthebathroom,classrooms,andareasinthefacilityas assignedsupportingadministrationstaff withrestockingneededmaterials weekly(i.e., soap, toilet tissue, hand towels, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Required Skills:

  • Experience and interest in working within a facilities maintenance capacity, interacting and protecting thesafetyandintegrityofchildren,staff,and families
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in a facilities maintenance field
  • Experience responding to work orders and repairing equipment, including playground equipment
  • Ability to meet minimum physical requirements:
    • Lift(fromfloor)andcarryuptofiftypounds
    • Carry Classroom Go-Bag and other emergency supplies
    • Utilize fine and medium hand manipulations
    • Assume postures in low-level positions including but not limited to bending, stooping, squatting,kneeling,andsittingonthefloor
    • Abilitytomovefromaseatedpositiontoastandingpositionpromptlytorespondto emergency situations.
    • Possess hearing and visual capabilities necessary to monitor the environment and

children’s well-being

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards for center-based childcare settings including:
    • Disaster planning resources and collaborations within childcare community
    • Community health and mental health resources for child, parent/guardian and staff health
    • Importance of serving as a healthy role model for children and staff
  • Ability to assess emergency situations and act accordingly
  • Ability to work successfully independently and on a team
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions/changes
  • Ability to organize and plan effectively
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work under stress, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
