Role:
The Maintenance Support Specialist (off-site) will provide a safe, clean and comfortable work environment at Empower's various branch and credit-union locations. This role performs building maintence, including but not limited to: carpentry, painting, and miscellaneous repairs; performing skilled and semi-skilled labor in connection with the repair(s) and maintenance of minor mechanical equipment and other duties as assigned.
This position will serve as a back-up to our HQ/On-site Maintenance Support Specialist who supports our headquarters functions and includes responsibilities such as mailroom distribution and sorting, when necessary.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Building Maintenance
Perform routine interior and exterior building maintenance tasks at Empower's branch locations, and HQ as needed, involving carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical work, etc. in a timely manner. Identify and report possible building defects; analyze issues to generate solutions that will not impede employee productivity. Utilize equipment including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, plumbing tools, etc. Comply with state building codes and company safety regulations.

Work Orders
Complete work orders from branch locations as assigned in a professional, courteous and timely manner based on priority and urgency. Clearly communicate schedules, and any delays or issues with work order completion. Complete maintenance logs and necessary reports.

Special Projects
Collaborate with the Building Services Manager and contractors as needed to complete additional tasks associated with special projects and mid-level construction projects. Participate in professional development opportunities related to new maintenance techniques, safety procedures, and advancements in courier services.

Courier
Fulfill courier responsibilities, including sorting and delivering mail, coordinating with external courier services, and handling confidential documents as needed.
Performance Measurements:

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education
A high school education or GED.
License: Valid New York State driver's license required.
Interpersonal Skills
Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills
1. Ability to recognize, prioritize and accomplish needed tasks.
2. Basic knowledge of computers.
3. Knowledge of methods, techniques and tools used in construction.
4. Ability to make repairs to miscellaneous building components.
5. Ability to operate hand and power tools.
Physical Requirements
Working conditions are subject to variations in temperature and humidity and may include high wind, rain and other elements. Requires the ability to work safely out-of-doors in all weather, lift and carry equipment and bulky items frequently weighing up to 50 lbs. alone, up to 75 lbs. with assistance; grasp/hold objects and tools with broad range of wrist/arm motion including working with arms overhead, climb with load, work on slippery and uneven surfaces, and hearing capacity to understand conversations. Must be able to perform duties on/in/under/through roofs, basements, crawl spaces and attics.
