Job Summary: Under the direction of the Public Works Director. This position is responsible for the maintenance of roads, bridges, water system and sewer system within the city to ensure the safety of the public. Directs and performs any duty required to carry out the functions of the water, sewer and street system of the city. Also provides customer service and deals with the public daily.

- Ensure that safety meetings are held and safety precautions are followed by subordinates.
- Schedule manpower and equipment to ensure that maintenance is on a priority basis and is diversified.
- Have the ability to manage subordinates, even though working with them, and knowing where they are at all times.
- Coordinates all activity with the Public Works Director.
- Makes suggestions to the Public Works Director and Mayor for discipline and/or promotions of employees.
- With assistance from the Public Works Director, ensure compliance with all related EPA and ADEQ requirements.
- Survey all city-maintained roads and bridges within the city limits for potential and real problem areas.
- Ensure accurate employee time, equipment, and activity transactions are recorded.
- Act quickly on problem areas to minimize further damage to the city’s infrastructure.
- Ensure that city buildings and grounds are kept clean, neat and orderly thereby presenting a positive perspective to the public and adjoining landowners.
- Ability to speak effectively and courteously with citizens, business professionals, state and federal officials, and employees of the city while developing cooperative and continuing relationships.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to multi-task, keep track of details, good organization skills and protect and maintain confidential information.
- Must be on-call for emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
2) Five (5) years of supervisory experience.
3) Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
4) Must be able to obtain the Distribution 2 and Wastewater 1-3 License’s.
2) Skilled in the operation of light and heavy equipment.
