The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day to day leadership of the maintenance team. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for prioritization and execution of the facility reliability activities to support the facility's goals. The Supervisor will lead continuous improvement of established maintenance program activities and processes, as well as supporting continuous improvement of all production processes, short-term planning/execution, in the achievement of plant key performance indicators (KPI's).
Duties and responsibilities
Supervision - 70%
- Lead and assign maintenance department activities Maintenance Technicians daily.
- Liaise with production staff and other departments to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules
- Coordinates, participate and support the troubleshooting breakdowns, equipment and processes root cause analysis and preventive maintenance activities.
- Supervise assembly and disassembly of machines to make repairs, perform inspections, or replace with new items.
- Lead and support the execution of the maintenance program activities and other maintenance related systems (ECP's, work orders, inventory sheets).
- Lead spare parts and storeroom organization, management and controls program
- Participate in the Process Safety Management program.
- Supervise and ensure adherence to lockout/tagout procedures per company policy.
- Assist the EHS Manager with management of the plant's hazardous materials/hazardous waste program
- Coordinates with outside vendors for the needed maintenance support and repair of plant equipment.
- Coordinates and manages contractor activities.
- Maintain the electrical safety program for the plant.
LEAN Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement - 20%
- Lead maintenance department support in the facility's Lean (SQDCCP) and continuous improvement activities and initiatives.
- Supervise team to explore and implement continuous improvement/automation activities
- 5's champion in the Maintenance department
Other Functions - 10%
- Perform engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts
- Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Participate in monthly maintenance conference call and report on plant activities.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with five or more years' experience in an industrial environment as a Maintenance Supervisor.
- Certifications in mechanical/industrial fields (electrician, millwright, welding, etc.) preferred.
- Preventive Maintenance experience with industrial equipment.
- Requires knowledge and experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, working with systems, reservoirs, pumps, valves, sensors, cylinders, piping, tubing, hoses, switches, and motors.
- Requires knowledge and experience in the electrical field with voltages from 24 V to 480 V.
- Must be able to utilize drawings and diagrams (electrical, piping, PID loops) to identify failed components and speed up repairs.
- Experience with Predictive Technologies such as Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasound equipment, and Precision Alignment would be a plus.
- Possess experience in Microsoft applications including Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must be able to work any overtime and weekends as needed.
- Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance principles and their implementation.
- Familiarity and usage of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Familiarity with 5S Systems and their implementation/sustainment.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Key Performance Indicators and their use in improvement activities, in driving toward a world class maintenance operation.
- Must be a safety conscientious team player.
- Experience as a cross functional team member in a fast pace, collaborative environment.
