JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS:

The role of Maintenance Supervisor is to provide leadership and direction for development of the maintenance team and to foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork at Three Forks Operations.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safe, effective, and economical production of talc. This includes the following:

  • Initiate and lead in creating and sustaining a behavior based safety and health culture site wide.
  • Fully support the operations health, safety, quality and environmental (HSEQ) programs by overseeing their implementations, maintenance and enforcement as well as compliance with corporate initiatives.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of plant maintainers to insure that work performed meets operational objectives, customer needs and company requirements.
  • Prioritize tasks and allocate maintenance resources as required
  • Account for inventory usage by maintenance team
  • Implement and sustain performance standards for the maintenance team.
  • Conduct follow-up interaction with workforce on completed work orders
  • Coordinates and partners with production, maintenance manager and engineering to ensure planning, scheduling and work orders are effectively communicated and executed without any supply interruptions to our customers .
  • Liaise with contractors regarding outside service work
  • Works to develop more sustainable maintenance paradigm of Planned and Predictive Maintenance by reducing Breakdown Maintenance and "fire fighting".
  • Participate and lead in monthly Safety Blitz
  • Conduct start-of-shift meetings and interactions with personnel throughout shift
  • Create work orders and monitor progress to completion
  • Request and analyze quotations from outside vendors
  • Administer INOVA timecard system for maintenance group
  • Administer Continuous Improvement Incentive Process (CIIP) for maintenance group
  • Administer vacation scheduling and approval process
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of plant related projects that improve cost, quality, environmental and/or safety.
  • Train and develop team members and encourage near miss reporting.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and coordinates the activities of maintenance workers, either personally or through subordinate supervisor(s), to insure that processing systems and products produced meet operational objectives and customer requirements.
  • Works in conjunction with maintenance planners to complete maintenance activities and establishes priorities in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Confers with production and quality control to insure production activities are coordinated with those groups to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources and equipment.
  • Coordinates maintenance schedules with production staff, customer service and maintenance planners to properly service customer needs.
  • Consults with senior manager and staff, as well as engineering staff, to set location objectives, resolve problems, lower costs, and improve location performance in quality, safety, and/or productivity.
  • Directs training of workers to improve work performance and motivates work force to accomplish both location and company objectives.
  • Prepares reports on location activities as directed.
  • Reviews and analyzes quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of non-conformity with production specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Insures ISO 9000-2000 Quality Standards are practiced and provides appropriate leadership for the location's program.
  • Assists with management of process optimization and capital projects at the location to insure the development and implementation of cost-effective programs and plans.
  • Coordinates activities with outside contractors, suppliers, and vendors and consults with cost control and purchasing personnel to assure cost-effective purchase of goods and services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:

  • The job encounters complex problems as well as technical problems on a daily basis.
  • The supervisor position requires a good working knowledge of the milling and packaging processes, technical repair procedures, Magris Talc standards, management systems, collective bargaining agreements and human resource policies. It also requires knowledge of the regulatory agencies that govern local operations including those for safety and the environment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor degree preferred or equivalent work experience or combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years' experience in industrial processing or maintenance/operations. Technical knowledge of industrial process and mechanical equipment is required.
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements desired.
  • Leadership and teamwork training desired.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead cross-functional groups and delegate work.
  • Handle multiple assignments with appropriate prioritization.
  • Good written verbal, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, MSHA/OHSA regulations
  • Proficient at Magris Talc Safety Standards, which include isolation, working at heights, confined space and general safety systems.
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office, Excel, Google Suite, PIMS, INFOR, Enterprise Resource Planning (IFS)
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and processes controls. Ability to organize and implement projects.
  • Leadership skills are needed to assure the maintenance employees work safely, efficiently, and toward a common goal and objectives.
