UW Facilities manages the University’s buildings, infrastructure, and land, with more than 1,100 employees in a variety of fields. Maintenance & Construction (M&C) is responsible for general maintenance, repair, and renovations of all University of Washington (UW) main campus facilities including building interiors, exteriors, and grounds, as well as logistics, moving, and disposal of surplus equipment and furniture.
UW Facilities Construction is the in-house provider of minor alterations, improvements and tenant renovations including architectural, electrical, and mechanical projects, cabinetry, and campus and building signage which by state statute must not exceed $90K for multi-trades work and $45K for single trade work.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Maintenance Supervisor II (ideally with mechanical, electrical, plumbing experience) to supervise and manage assigned construction program crews including leads, journey-level and semi-skilled trades in the performance of construction projects to ensure that tenant improvements and remodels are performed at a level and standard that meets required specifications, budgetary constraints, and UW policies.

Desired:
- Degree or certificate in facilities management or related field.
- Demonstrated success in supervising multiple skilled trade leads and journey personnel involved in the maintenance, alteration, or operation of technically complex facilities, building systems, and/or equipment.
- Experience implementing process improvement initiatives.
- Experience/proficiency with a computerized maintenance management system.
- Knowledge and practical experience with WISHA (Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) regulations.
- Demonstrated success in supervising trades personnel, such as carpenters, painters and sign painters involved in the maintenance, alteration, or operation of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
- Demonstrated success in supervising trades personnel, such as journey roofers, outside masons, glaziers, carpenters, heavy equipment operators, metal trades, maintenance mechanics, plumbers and electricians involved in the maintenance, alteration, or operation of buildings, facilities and equipment.
- Demonstrated success in supervising trades personnel, such as locksmiths, carpenters and electricians involved in the maintenance, alteration, or operation of buildings, facilities, door security systems and door hardware.
- Demonstrated success in supervising skilled trade leads and journey personnel, such as machinery mechanics, carpenters, painters, masons, maintenance mechanics, sheet metal mechanics, plumbers, and electricians involved in the maintenance, alteration, or operation of buildings, facilities, door security systems and hardware, and equipment.
- Experience in the maintenance, repair and/or alterations for technically complex and sophisticated buildings in an institutional or commercial setting.
- Experience should include operation in a multi-trade system, personnel supervision, fiscal management, computer applications for maintenance management, database management, and technical report writing.
- Experience in the maintenance, repair and alteration of combined steam distribution systems, medical gas, reverse osmosis systems, closed looped chilled water systems, commercial and institutional plumbing as applicable to the accrediting of research facilities and fire suppression systems.
- Experience should include operation in a multi-trade environment, personnel supervision, maintenance management, preventive maintenance, computer applications, and technical report writing.
- Experience designing a hierarchal key system for a new building incorporating levels of security as required for a diverse security environment.
- Working with a computerized key control system that incorporates drawings, bids, and key numbers in a stand-alone computer system.
- Working knowledge of card access systems that are available within the security community.
- Experience managing the operation and maintenance program for the electrical distribution systems with the Health Sciences complex.

- Must participate in medical screening/monitoring (such as TB screening and proof of measles inoculation) required for work assignments in locations, including but not limited to, nonhuman primate areas, the Animal Research and Care Facility, and the University of Washington Medical Center
- Possession of a valid Washington State driver’s license.
