Maintenance Supervisor - 1St Shift

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE
REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE MANAGER
SHIFT: 1st - 9am - 6:30p
SUMMARY:
. Ensures the safe and appropriate operation of equipment by proper diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the operating condition of production/processing computer systems, machinery, and other equipment and buildings. Duties include but not limited to: Program, repair, and maintain all production computers, networks, PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation along with mechanical equipment, such as pumps, conveyor systems, and motors, in accordance with diagrams, blueprints, operating manuals, or manufacturer's specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Supervision of the day-to-day maintenance functions and personnel, including scheduling of labor to meet plant and equipment requirements, and assigning responsibilities and tasks.
• Provide support by troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, training, and sharing of information with other maintenance personnel.
• Actively participate with Operations in plant improvement initiatives. Ensure all mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and structural repair and improvements are performed to industry and Saputo standards.
• Evaluate Maintenance personnel skills and abilities and establish a training program for development within the Department.
• Coach and develop maintenance employees to achieve continuous improvement in performance levels.
• Act as a resource for all maintenance and operation personnel to address and correct technical issues.
• Advise the Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, Department Managers and Supervisors on equipment issues and their impact on production output.
• Ensure that all utilities (i.e. refrigeration, electrical, steam, compressed air systems, etc.) are in proper working order to support production. Troubleshoot machinery and process systems in the event of breakdowns.
• Coordinate with production supervision downtime windows for PM and repair work.
• Maintain current technical documentation relative to PLC's, instrumentation and equipment (i.e. PLC ladder logic, blueprints, manuals, SOPs, maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance, inventory control and parts purchasing).
• Maintain awareness and monitor costs relative to the maintenance operation.
• Monitor the work area to ensure a safe environment is maintained and all plant safety rules are followed.
• Enforce the Company's policies and programs with employees, contractors, vendors, consultants and suppliers (i.e. safety, GMPs, etc).
• Assume an active role in the plant Safety Programs to include involvement and support of the plant Safety Teams.
• Effectively communicate and interact with all plant and company personnel, vendors, contractors and other outside personnel, to ensure smooth operation of the process; act as liaison between plant and Engineering Department during and after implementation of automation projects.
• Complete all assigned paperwork including maintenance records, incident reports and investigations, and other as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
• Perform other duties and projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field, and/or the equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5-8 years experience in the field of industrial maintenance; Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry experience preferred; and supervision experience required.
• Working knowledge of boilers, refrigeration, PLCs, electrical, cooling towers, ammonia compressors, pumping systems, air compressors and associated auxiliary equipment. Process Safety Management (PSM) program requirements and packaging equipment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to troubleshoot and analyze mechanical/electrical/process control system functions, in order to determine the most efficient method of resolving malfunctions.
• Ability to lead, influence and motivate a large workforce through interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to coach and train the Maintenance team in order to develop the necessary technical skills and knowledge to support operations relative to equipment reliability.
• Ability to work flexible hours.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts

• Environment is occasionally damp and cold. Caustic, acid, and chlorine chemicals will be used and may emit fumes into the air

• Floors may be wet and slippery

• Room temperatures will range from 35 degrees F. to an excess of 130 degrees F

Salary Range: $67,685 - $88,835
