ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS!
The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of AVTEC, is recruiting for a
Maintenance Specialist, Journey 2/Lead located in Seward! No Cover Letter Required!
This position is in the Labor, Trades and Crafts Unit (LTC) at a Range 51.
What You Will Be Doing:
In addition to core knowledge and abilities required for a general Maintenance Specialist, this Maintenance Specialist would have special knowledge and abilities in HVAC and Plumbing and Heating Systems to install, trouble shoot, repair, and maintain:
  1. HVAC systems and equipment such as Commercial grade refrigerators, A/C systems, freezers, and coolers,
  2. Plumbing systems and equipment, such as potable water supplies and distribution systems,
  3. Drain, waste, and venting systems, and
  4. Fuel and gas piping systems and venting equipment.

Who We Are Looking For:
To be successful in the position a candidate will need the following core competencies:
  • Skill in using a variety of hand and power tools, gas-fired equipment, and vehicles.
  • Knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of HVAC and plumbing systems, to include potable water supplies and distribution systems, drain, waste, and venting systems, fuel and gas piping systems, venting equipment, commercial grade refrigerators, A/C systems, freezers, coolers, electric and oil-fired furnaces and unit heaters, and other HVAC system components.
  • Plumbing and Pipefitting: Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, gas, chemicals, or sewage.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Teamwork: Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; fosters commitment and team spirit; works with others to achieve goals.

Minimum Qualifications
