Maintenance Mechanic driving the energy transformation

Lincoln, Nebraska, US

Our Maintenance Technician's play an important role in driving that transformation.

We are looking for an ambitious and driven colleague that wants to work closely with our Test and Validation maintenance team.

Job Summary

Perform necessary work to maintain Test and Validation machinery and equipment, including, but not limited to electrical work, welding, tear down & assembly, water or other pipeline work, machining & carpentry work, and hydraulic systems. Perform set up, operate, troubleshoot, clean, maintain, & make repairs to Test and Validation equipment to achieve production, safety, and quality standards while following detailed procedures and schematics. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate & contribute to company safety and 5S initiatives and programs.
  • Effectively communicate and work with department members and supporting functions.
  • Support test & validation by maintaining test equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and existing preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain equipment and test fixtures in excellent working conditions in an expedited fashion.
  • Observe & test the operation of equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions using volt meters, pressure gauges, head sensors, & other testing and measurement devices.
  • Operate newly repaired equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education &Experience

  • 2-year vocational degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical and/or hydraulic equipment, preferred.
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience operating and troubleshooting electrical circuits.

Skills

  • Ability to work with high-pressure equipment safely. Attention to detail and situational awareness is critical.
  • Ability to respond quickly & efficiently to equipment/ machine breakdowns without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed work instructions, specifications and schematics is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills relative to technical issues (in the English language) are required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as participate as part of a technical team is required.
  • Ability to reliably report status, performance and results is required.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and manlift is required.
  • Ability to multitask on several projects and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of building maintenance.

Computer

  • Intermediate level knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.
  • Experience using MS Outlook and MS Teams applications.
  • Ability to learn cloud bases applications such as IFS or other ERP type systems for parts ordering, equipment PM's, etc.

Physical

  • Adept in the use of various hand-held tools including drills, saws, files, hand tools, and portable power tools.
  • Adept at wiring and soldering small electronic components.
  • Ability to sit, stand, crouch, stoop, kneel, and walk for up to 8 hours or more per day.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis, and up to 80 lbs. on a limited/ occasional basis.
  • Ability to work with both hands and both feet on a regular basis.

  • Have the flexibility to adjust work hours to meet manufacturing schedule requirements (as necessary).
  • Must have the ability to supply own hand tools & tool cart; specialty tools will be provided by the
  • company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is moderately required to stand for long periods of time on the production floor and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift up to 120 pounds with team lift assistance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to work overtime as required due to business needs. This position will work in the plant and outdoors in the yard/field, therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat. The work described while working in the plant or field will require wearing all PPE depending on circumstance which may include: safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, leather gloves, safety vest and steel toed footwear.
